Okizu Foundation Request to Waive County Building Fees

The Okizu Foundation, a non-profit organization, equested a fee waiver for the building permit for a pavilion structure at the existing
permitted Okizu Camp (Use Permit 98-21). The Okizu Camp provides camping experiences for kids and their families struggling with
childhood cancer. The Camp is located at 445 Zink Road, Berry Creek, on County Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) 062-240-008.
The total estimate of County fees for the building is $4,766.95 (building permit review, inspection, and related fees). This fee estimate
does not include any applicable school district or parks and recreation district fees or other non-County fees required at the time of
the building permit. County impact fees are not required with the proposed building.
County Code, Section 1-18 allows the Board of Supervisor to waive fees under certain circumstances. As stated in the Code: All or
part of any fee specified in this article may be waived upon order of the Board of Supervisors if the applicant is a public entity or non-
profit charitable organization or if the Board finds that it is otherwise in the public interest to do so.
The fiscal impact is a reduction in revenue of $4,766.95.

RE: Okizu Foundation
I am writing on behalf of the Okizu Foundation. We are a non‐profit organization providing a camp
experience for kids and their families struggling with childhood cancer. Our site is a 500 acre camp
located at 445 Zink Rd, Berry Creek, CA. assessor’s parcel number 062‐240‐008‐000. We offer fishing,
swimming, hiking, archery, and group discussions amongst other activities. All funding for the camp
comes from donations. The children and their families visit free of charge.
This request is for a waiver of all fees, County building Permit Fees and county Impact fees for the
construction of a 638 sq. ft. pavilion to provide an area for discussion groups for siblings of childhood
cancer. Total of fee waiver to be $4,766.95. We believe that the Okizu Foundation is a worthy recipient
of the County’s consideration.
Should you agree with our assessment, we would very much appreciate direction to staff to process
our application under a fee waiver pursuant to Butte County Code #1.18, the Board can waive certain
fees for a non‐profit charitable organization. It is our understanding that other worthy non‐profits have
made similar requests and we would like to join them in furthering efforts in making Butte County a
better place by serving others.
