The floor deflects in several areas and squeaks loudly which would generally indicate that the underfloor piers are not properly shimmed and leveled. 2. The drywall is badly cracked in many areas, especially in the exterior walls. 3. The exterior underfloor cripple wall stud nailing consists of three 16d toe nails placed with a nail gun. The Uniform Building Code requires this nailing to consist of four 8d toe nails, or two 16d end nails. The majority of the nails split the plate, or were toe nailed improperly. These factors eliminate the effectiveness of the cripple wall nailing. Each of these items should be corrected and inspected before you proceed with the job. The floor deflects in several areas and squeaks loudly which would generally indicate that the underfloor piers are not properly shimmed and leveled. 2. The drywall is badly cracked in many areas, especially in the exterior walls. 3. The exterior underfloor cripple wall stud nailing consists of three 16d toe nails placed with a nail gun. The Uniform Building Code requires this nailing to consist of four 8d toe nails, or two 16d end nails. The majority of the nails split the plate, or were toe nailed improperly. These factors eliminate the effectiveness of the cripple wall nailing. Each of these items should be corrected and inspected before you proceed with the job.
