General The Vector Dynamics Foundation System resists lateral & longitudinal. wind loads by anchoring the two longitudinal main rails. Footings and Frost Lines The Vector Dynamics Foundation System was designed to be placed directly on top of the ground ('or poured concrete) after clearing all loose vegetation. In areas with frost heave, use Vector for Poured Concrete to comply with local requirements for footer depth. Foundation/Footing Specification for Vector Pads Vector Pads are used in place of conventional foundation pads. One Vector pad provides 2 sq. ft. on single block and 3 sq ft. double block pads of bearing support. Vector Systems should be spaced as symmetrically as possible within 10' of end of home. For pier locations in between the Vector Systems, use the normal foundation pads. Maximum Pier Height Vector Dynamics Foundation Systems may be used on single section homes in Wind Zone I which require pier heights (from surface of Vector pads to top of concrete or metal pier) not to exceed 36 inches under one or both main rail(s). Multi -section homes limited to 50 inches. Unequal Pier Heights Multi -section homes with unequal pier heights are limited to 50" maximum pier height. The difference between the taller pier and the shorter pier cannot exceed 26". Page 10 11 / Vector Dynamics System a for Concrete Applications or J Instructions \' Read and follow all applicable instructions and guidelines in the Vector instructions and home instal- lation manual. The Vector system for concrete pads applies to concrete footers, runners and slabs. Minimum size of concrete per Vector pier is 24"x24" x 4" or 18" round (min) x 10" deep. The bottom of footers must be below the frost line or a minimum of 4" below finished grade whichever is greater. Concrete must be sufficiently cured and set to accommodate an anchor bolt to its' full load resistance. 1. Determine location of pier sets where the Vector systems will be located. 2. Place one Vector concrete pad (galv. metal) on the concrete where the pier will be located, centered under the I-beam of the home. Place the upturned edge towards the center of the home and directed to the opposite Vector pier. Do the same for the opposite Vector pier. 3. Place a long u -bolt through the holes of the Vector pad as shown. 4. Place the concrete pier blocks on the Vector pad. Center the blocks under the frame. The upturned edge end of the Vector pads should be up against the inside of the pier blocks. 5. Build vector piers but do not wedge at this time. 6. Using a concrete drill bit, drill two holes into the concrete using the two holes in the rear end of the Vector pad as a guide. Drill the 3/8" diameter holes 3 inches deep. 7. Place an outside tension bracket on the Vector pad as shown in Illustration one. Line up the holes in the bracket, Vector pad and concrete pad. Put a washer and nut on one of the 3/8" x 3-3/4" wedge anchors. The nut should be screwed on enough to have 1 or 2 threads showing on the top of the bolt. Place the wedge end of the bolt into one of the holes, going through the outside tension bracket, metal Vector pad and into the concrete. 9. Using a hammer, tap the wedge bolt into the hole. Maximum height for expansion bolt above concrete is 2". 10. Repeat for the other hole in the outside tension bracket and the two holes on the other Vector system pier set. 11. Place an inside tie bracket over the u -bolt so that the lip of the bracket is between the Vector plate and concrete blocks. Place washers and nuts on each U -bolt. Do not tighten yet. 12. Attach a strap w/hook or swivel strap w/nut & bolt. Place other end of the strap over opposite I-beam & down to outside tension bracket. Cut strap 12 -15 inches past bracket. Attach strap & slotted bolt in bracket. Tighten strap until tight with 4-5 wraps around bolt. Repeat with opposite strap. 13. Tighten inside u -bolts at this time. 14. Use the outside tension brackets to remove any space between the outside tension brackets, concrete blocks and the inside edge of the Vector pad, by tapping the brackets with a hammer. Wedge the pier set at this time. 15. Using a 9/16" socket wrench, tighten all of the wedge/anchor bolts, securing the outside tension bracket and Vector pad to the concrete. 16. Using a slotted bolt in the outside tension brackets, insert strap through slotted bolt with end of strap aligned with outside edge of bolt. Turn slotted bolt until straps are tight using at least five turns on the slotted bolts. Butte County Building Inspectors will make compliance inspections. 1272.00 Maintenance of Defensible Space Measures [X] To ensure continued maintenance of properties in conformance with these standards and measures and to assure continued availability, access, and utilization of the defensible space provided for these standards during a wildfire, provisions for annual maintenance shall be included in the development plans and/or shall be provided as a condition of the permit, parcel or map approval. Public Resources Code 4291 information will be provided when the final inspection is completed. 1273.10 Driveways [X] (a) All new driveway construction or an extension of an existing driveway shall comply with Public Resources Code 4290 roadway requirements. [X) (b) All driveways shall provide a minimum 10 foot traffic lane and unobstructed vertical clearance of 15 feet along its entire length [X] (c) Driveways exceeding 150 feet in length, but less than 800 feet in length, shall provide a turnout near the midpoint of the driveway. Where the driveway exceeds 800 feet, turnouts shall be provided no more than 400 feet apart [X] (d) A turnaround shall be provided to all building sites on driveways over 300 feet in length, and shall be within 50 feet of the building. 1273.02 Roadway Surface [X] The surface shall provide unobstructed access to conventional drive vehicles, including sedans and fire engines. Surfaces should be established in conformance with local ordinances, and be capable of supporting a 40,000 pound load. 4" of class 2 aggregate base shall be required for all driveways, turnouts, and turnarounds. 1273.03 Roadway Grades [X] The grade for all driveways shall not exceed 15 percent Grades above 15% shall have 4" of class 2 aggregate base and 2" of asphalt concrete. No driveways allowed in excess of 20%. 1273.04 Roadway Radius [X] (a) No roadway shall have a horizontal inside radius of curvature of less than 50 feet and additional surface width of 4 feet shall be added to curves of 50-100 feet radius; 2 feet to those from 100-200 feet. Thanks for all of your assistance a couple of weeks ago. I have now purchased 2 parcels in your county (closing escrow next month), both have had mobile homes previously with the permits in place. What I propose to do, is move a mobile home back on one of the parcels, and live in that one while I build my home on the other parcel. These parcels are next to one another. Could you please mail me an application for the permit process? There is already a Well, Septic System, and Electric all on the properties. As mentioned earlier, there was a permitted pre 1976, 500 sq ft. mobile home on the premises. So I would need a permit for a mobile home, not sure if pre 1976 is all I can afford at this time, but I will try to search for a nice mobile home. I plan to live in a Travel Trailer while they set the mobile home on a permanent foundation. I would like a concrete slab foundation, if it is doable with your county's regulations. I understand there is a small administrative fee for living in my travel trailer for a few months. Could you send the information for that permit process as well? As I mentioned earlier, I plan to build a home on the other parcel next year? Could you send me info on that as well? Snow load, trusell requirements, etc .... I have plans for the home already. It is a small 3bd, 2ba 1000sq ft home. Just me and my daughter ... =) That parcel had a 500 sq foot mobile on it as well, so I assume I can adjust the fees appropriately? The home will be on a cement slab, it is a kit home or prefab home. Pre-engineered plans from a local lumber company. Great starter home. I believe it has a 10# snow load and engineered trusses...
