Dear Ms. Clark:
This department received a complaint alleging health and safety
hazards in the above listed rental dwelling. The Butte County
Assessor's records indicate you are the owner.of the property.
On October 16, 1987, I visited the property and the tenant permitted
me to inspect her rental dwelling. The following conditions were
observed which are in violation of the California Health and Safety
Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(12), (b)(4), (d), (e), and (f) and which
pose health or safety hazards to the tenants.
1. There is a major roach infestation in the kitchen cabinets, and in
the bathroom lavatory cabinet.
2. Wall is damaged from water leakage from tub enclosure in bathroom.
3. Electric range wiring shorted out damaging other appliances.
4. Water heater flue is badly deteriorated.
These conditions shall be corrected as follows and within THIRTY (30)
DAYS from receipt of this notice. Obtain all required permits from
the Butte County Department of Public Works, 196 Memorial Way, Chico,
CA prior to making repairs.
1. Eradicate the roach infestation in.the kitchen cabinets, and in
the bathroom lavatory cabinet.
2. Repair water damaged wall near bathtub in bathroom.

3. Repair or replace defective electric range. Use competent
repairman.
4. Replace deteriorated water heater flue with an approved flue.
A reinspection will be made. Failure to comply will result in the
Franchise Tax Board being advised of your noncompliance. You will
then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes,
depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the
property as long as it remains substandard. This notice is given_ to
you pursuant to Sections 17299 and 24436.5 of the California Revenue
and Taxation Code. ..�

Dear Ms. Clark:
Thid department made a followup inspection on March 19, 1986, on the above listed
apartment complex to verify compliance with a notice issued on March 12, 1985.
The f.ollowup revealed that items one through four have been corrected. However,_
it was brought to my attention.that carports for the two apartments have now
been converted to rooms. The room at 957 Wisconsin lacks heating facilities
and is subject.to rain water drainage.. This room cannot be utilized for a
bedroom due to these conditons. The carport at 955 Wisconsin also has been
converted and now has doorway into the apartment.
In order to use these rooms as part of the habitable space for the apartments
in 955 and 957 Wisconsin, it will be necessary to.have-an inspection by the Butte
County Department of Public Works, and obtain permits to make required modifi-
cations to floors, heating facilities, windows,and electrical service, etc. to
bring the rooms into compliance with applicable codes.
During my inspection'I also observed the following conditions which are viola-
tions of the .California Health and Safety Code, Section.17920.3 (a) (8), (b)
(2), and (e), which pose health or safety hazards to the tenants.
1. Windows cannot be opened in living room or dining area of 957 Wisconsin.
2.Kitchen floor is rotted below tile in 957 Wisconsin:;.,due to water leakage.
3.�'There are plumbing leaks under the kitchen sink;in 957 Wisconsin.
These conditions shall be corrected as .Follows and within THIRTY (30) DAYS from
receipt of this notice. Contact the Butte County Department of Public Works,
