On March 28, 1980, a reinspection was made of the old house
at 1421 Davis Street, Chico to determine if required repairs
were completed. Rec o n struction appears to be at a standstill
with the structure becoming more dilapidated as time passes.
Please inform this division of your intentions concerning
this structure. If you do not intend to complete the repairs,
it will be necessary to demolish and remove the structure.
We will expect to have an answer to the above within thirty

With reference to the above subject and your proposal to make a living unit out of
the old house at,1421 Davis Street in Chico; an inspection was made with you on
July 13, 1978, As a result of this housing inspection, the following items must be
done:
1. Provide an approved sewage disposal system.
2. The lean-to dddition to the north side, provide: •(a) • -2x4 studs 0 24"
center to center; (b) 2x6 rafters C, 24" center to center; (c) proper under-
floor support system including piers and girders; (d) adequate support for
rafters to existing building; and (e) bedroom window within 4 ft. of the
floor with a minimum of 10 sq.ft.•in area with 5 sq.ft. openable, 22" mini-
mum openable dimension.
3. Make building weathertite including new roofing.
4. Install new electric service and provide adequate circuits and wiring.
5. Properly install a kitchen sink, a bathtub or shower, a toilet, and a lava-
tory in the building and connect to an approved sewer and vent system.
6. Install an approved water heater and heating system per code requirements.
7. If existing as piping system is to be used, you must provide a satisfactory
gas test.
8. Provide openable windows in the existing openings.
9. Provide hot and cold water to the required fixtures.
10. Provide approved interior finish where required.
Please submit two (2) floor plans to this office, incorporating the above items, for
approval and pay additional fees for the plumbing, electric, and mechanical not anti-
cipated on the original application. Also, an additional $1000.00 valuation will be
added to the building permit to determine fees.
As you.know, these permits must be obtained prior to construction work.

I am writing in order to get assurance., that my building
permit can be renewed. Let me give you the details.
The permit was obtained prior to the close of escrow on
the property with the understanding that the close of
escrow was to happen within a couple weeks. Legal delays
have kept escrow from closing still and the permit has
since expired, as of 7/26/79.
In order to,decide whether or not to continue with the
escrow proceedings, I need to know if the permit will be
able to be renewed and, if so, what charges will be made.
The first official inspection was not made,but the property
was inspected by several building officials as well as
yourself, the latter being on 7/13/78.
The address of the property is 1421 Davis St., Chico, and
the permit number is: 46-136-15. I wanted to check with
your department to make sure there haven't been any changes
in policy that would make it impossible to complete the
