To Whom It May Concern,
With reference to the above subject and your request for inspection of the proposed counseling office at
1010 Cleveland
Street, in Chico, the inspection was made on October 23, 1997. The structure is a wood
frame residence with stucco exterior. There is some deterioration of exterior wood trim and paint due to
weather exposure,
but the roof and general structural condition appear to be fair.
A reasonable visual inspection was performed without going on the roof, under the building, or in the attic
and the following
items were identified, and must be completed or resolved:

The carport is an advanced state of dis-repair including a leaking roof and decayed roof
framing members and supports. It should be demolished.

The garage area contains hazardous'electrical including open splices, unprotected NM
ca�ble,-lack of a disconnect and GCI protection, and missing cover plates. It should be

Verify a proper ground, and gas and water bond at the electrical service on the residence.
The evaporative water cooler shows some corrosion, and may or may not be functional.
Provide disabled access throughout including access into the building, a path of travel
throughout the interior, and restroom facilities. This will require a ramp and landing at the
front and rear entries, the installation of T-0" x 6'-8" entry doors and interior doors or door
openings, and renovation of the bathroom.

Provide a safe water heater installation including seismic strapping, a 3/4" rigid metal
PTRV line to the outside, and a new vent and vent connector.
The combination wood burning - gas kitchen'stove is unlisted and the vent is unsafe.
Remove and fepfeee-with a listed gas only appliance.
The gas furnace is unlisted and lacks a properly installed vent and vent connector.

Remove and replace with a listed gas appliance. (Possibly a gas wall heater)

Although fee exempt, the above work will require building permits, and the permits must be obtained prior to
any work being done.
