The well on the parcel, which as drilled before permit requirements, was in a pit with the casing terminating approximately two feet below grade. The storms resulted in the creek eroding the bank back dozens of feet. The unsealed well is now within the channel of the creek and cannot be approved as a potable water source. This department recommends that the well be destroyed under permit and a new well be drilled out of the creek channel and flood plain. The existing septic system was also inundated with flood water. It appears the flood water was several feet high and flowing in the sewage disposal area. There was significant soil erosion in the area. Prior to approving the proposed new dwelling utilizing the existing septic system, verification that the system was not damaged will be required.
