Building permits are not required to be signed by property owners unless they are personally performing their own work. If your work is being performed by someone other than yourself, you may protect yourself from possible liability if that person applies for the proper permit in his or her name. Contractors are required by law to be licensed and bonded by the State of California and to have a business license from the city or county. They are also required by law to put their license number on all permits for which they apply. Determine the offset distance where chimney is to pass through the first ceiling-dimen- Sion "A". To find this point on your ceiling, first determine the center point for a vertical chimney following the instructions for vertical installation. Measure height to the ceiling from the top of fire- place -dimension "B". Use Offset Elevation Chart to find dimension "A". Mark point where you will drive your nail to show the center point for your offset ceiling cut. Step 2. Proceed by using the Straight Up Installa- tion Instructions for cutting and framing ceiling and roof openings. Note: See Framing and Dimension Chart for the sizes of the ceiling and roof openings. The size of the roof opening varies with the degree of pitch of the roof. OFFSET ELBOW ASSEMBLY Offset elbows install the same as chi ney sections. The terms and conditions of this permit shall run with the land and shall be binding upon and be to the benefit of the heirs, legal representatives, successors, and assigns of the Permittee. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: 1. The second dwelling unit shall comply with the Housing and Building Code where applicable and shall not exceed 1,200 square feet in floor area. 2. The second unit shall be occupied by at least one adult person who is 62 years of age or older and, prior to issuance of the mobile home installation permit for the second unit the applicant shall provide a notarized recorded affidavit that the person to occupy the second unit is 62 years of age or older. 3. The applicant shall provide an annual statement to the Planning Department that at least one occupant of the second unit is 62 years of age or older. 4. Applicant must also comply with all other applicable State and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations and shall obtain all necessary permits to place or .maintain the existing mobile home on the property.
