' The sun room is not changed to a concrete slab, but remains a wood floor. Instead of drilling piers, the full length of the foundation may be dug to a depth of 4 feet at the width shown on the plans. Adjacent to the main house foundation, there is a section of soil approximately 2 feet wide that has been backfilled but not tested for compaction. Since this section of the wall does not support a significant load, the foundation may span from the main building stem wall to solid ground (starting about 2 feet away from the main building stem wall). The excavation was taken down to a layer of lower expansive potential as directed by the engineer. The soil layer was identified on site by the medium brown color, as opposed to the very dark brown color of the upper soil layer. The foundation excavation will be filled back to a uniform depth using a'2000 psi concrete mix. No compaction tests will be required. The building foundations will bear at this level on either the approved soil layer .0yfthe concrete fill, For the foundations, the stem wall of the foundation will be extended to the lower depth. For the retaining wall foundation, the wall footing will bear at the lower level, and the height of the wall from the top of the footing to the top of the concrete wall be at or less than the 8'-4" distance that the wall design. was based on. The limits of the retaining wall foundation have also changed due to site conditions. The area where there is a grade difference that requires a retaining wall was less than originally expected. The attached drawing indicates the revised limits of the retaining wall foundation. For the retaining wall foundation, the wall footing will bear at the lower levet, and the height of the wall from the top of the footing to the top of the, Qoncrete wall be at or less than the 8'-4" distance that the wall design was based on. The limits of the retaining wall foundation have also changed due to site conditions. The area where there is a grade difference that requires a retaining wall was less than originally expected.
