Glander, Assistant Director of Public Works Manzanita Fire Station (AP 24-11-31) July 19, 1976 With reference to the above subject and pursuant to your request, an inspection of this county -owned building located at the northwest corner of Hwy. 99E and Evans Reimer Road south of Gridley was made. If the building is to be moved and used as a residence, it must conform to code require- ments for new buildings and the following items must be done: 1. The general structural condition appears adequate; however, the garage roof appears to require additional bracing. Dry -rotted or deteriorated materials throughout the building have'to be replaced and the building must be placed on an adequate foundation system. Additional pier and girder supports may be necessary, depending on spans and bearing wall locations. 2. The electrical system must be revamped to comply with code requirements including adequate service,�grounding of all receptacles, a minimum two (2) 20 -amp appliance circuits in the kitchen, and the elimination of any open splices and exposed wiring. 3. All plumbing fixtures must be properly vented and connected in an approved manner to a sewage disposal system. All plumbing fixtures must be safe and sanitary including the metal shower stall. 4. All gas appliances must be properly vented,.have adequate safety controls, and proper shutoffs. The gas water heater is not permitted in a bathroom and must be relocated and installed per code requirements. 5. The building must be made weathertite which probably will require new siding, replacement of double -hung wood windows, and some general repair work. 6. Provide adequate foundation vents and underfloor clearance. 7. Much of the interior wallboard and finish work must be repaired, finished, and painted. If the building is to be used for commercial purposes, in addition to the above, the following items must be done: 1. Restroom walls and floors must conforma�j Section 1711, Uniform Building Code. 2. Access must be provided to the building acilities installed for the physically handicapped. 3. Electric service must be equipped with a manual circuit closing devide approved for c,11 ercial use. On either of the above uses, complete plans must be submitted in duplicate with a building permit application, including all structural details, floor plans, and plot plans, to do the proposed work.
