On January 2, 1991, I visited the property and the tenants permitted me to inspect their rental unit. The following conditions were observed which are in violation of the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(12), (e), (f),(k); Uniform Plumbing Code Section 1001, "Running Water Required (potable). 1. The well is open, has no seal, and the water serving the house is non -potable. 2. The pump in the well does not work and therefore there is no water being supplied to the house. 3. The control to the oven in the kitchen is broken. 4. The dwelling has a rodent control problem. 5. The thermostat is broken and there is no heat in the house. 6. The tenants complained that there are leaks in the gas line. Vacate and do not rent the property again until these corrections are made. Obtain any required permits from the Butte County Department of Public Works, 7 County Center Drive, Oroville, CA prior to making repairs. 1. Well must be sealed with an approved sanitary seal. Once sealed the entire distribution system must be chlorinated and retested to prove potability. 2. Repair/replace thermostat and any heater components so that the heater is in food working order and will maintain temperature of the house at 68 F. 6. Pressure test gas line and eliminate all gas leaks if necessary. A reinspection will be made. Failure to comply will result in the Franchise Tax Board being notified of your non-compliance. You will then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes, depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the property as long as it remains -substandard. This notice is given to you pursuant to Sections 17299 and 24436.5 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code.
