Box 245 Gridley, CA 95948 RE: Housing Complaint - 1774 West Biggs Gridley Road, Gridley, CA AP# 22-230-22 Dear Mr. Funk: This department received a complaint alleging health or safety hazards in the above listed rental dwelling. The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you are the owner of the property. On January 5, 1988, I visited the property, and the tenants permitted me to inspect their rental dwelling. The following conditions were observed which are in violation of the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(11)(13), (d), and (g)(2)(4); and which pose health or safetv hazards to the tenants. 1. Roof leaks- are evident in laundry room (rear porch area), bathroom and front bedroom (porch conversion). 2. Laundry room has unprotected romex and other electrical wiring, and numerous open splices in uncovered junction boxes presenting electrical shock hazard. F 3. Bathroom has roof leak into electric light fixture with exposed wiring, wall receptacle missing a cover plate, all items presenting electrical shock hazards. 4. There is an unprotected romex wiring circuit running from the breaker box to the rear of the house. These conditions shall be corrected as follows, and within THIRTY (30) DAYS from receipt of this notice, except as indicated. Obtain all required permits from the Butte County Department of Public Works, 7 County Center Drive, Oroville, CA, prior to making the repairs. 0 Donald L. Funk, Sr. January 12,.1988 Page 2 1. Repair or replace leaking roof over laundry room, bathroom, and front bedroom (porch conversion), eliminating all leaks. 2. Protect all exposed, unprotected wiring in laundry room, eliminate open splices in uncovered junction boxes within TEN (10) DAYS. 3. Eliminate water leak into bathroom ceiling light fixture, replace damaged fixture, provide coverplate on wall receptacle within TEN (10) DAYS.' 4. Provide protection for exposed romex wiring. A reinspection will be made. Failure to comply will result in the Franchise Tax Board being advised of your noncompliance. You will then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes, depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the property as long as it remains substandard. This notice is given to you pursuant to Sections 17299 and 24436.5 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. Furthermore, if electrical hazards are not eliminated, it will be necessary for this department to request that the utility company serving this dwelling, disconnect electrical service.
