Dear Mr. Pales:
With reference to the above subject and your request for an'inspectiorr of this
residence located on the south side of Sheldon Avenue approximately 200 ft. west
of Gilatrap,Gridley, the requested inspection was made on August 20, 1976. The
inspection revealed the following code violations and building deficiencies:
1. No caulking between stone veneer and wood siding.
2. At northwest corner of garage, metal bracket missing.
3. Main service panel:
(a) 100 -amp service appears overloaded. Suggest contacting electrician
and determine adequacy.
(b) Some circuits are not identified.
(c) Four (4) 220 -circuits do not have tie bars on breakers.
(d) #10 wire fused with a 40 -amp breaker; replace with 30 -amp breaker.
4. Romex wiring runs across garage without proper protection from physical
damage.
5. Garage door cannot,be latched from inside.
6. Electric connection for cooktop not adequate.
7. Electric connection for dishwasher not adequate.
8. Combustion air for water heater is not adequate.
9. The metal bracket at ceiling to secure water heater vent is missing.
10. The adapter between the.single wall vent and the Type B vent is sheet
metal"tap6-rather than the approved metal type connector.
•11. Water beater hose connection at cold main valve leaks.
12. Post caps and anchors on rear porch construction are missing.
13. Building is not rat -proofed.
14. Posts supporting underfloor girders are resting on redwood block which is
apparently not secured to the supporting blocks.
15. Electric -circuit laying on ground under the house and is spliced without
a junction box.
16. No disconnect for AC unit on roof.
17. Gas lin to AC unit not supported.
18. Kitchen hood vent does not extend into roof jack.
19. Seal around pipes at roof jacks to make weathertite.
20. An additional receptacle is required in the family room and in the dining
21. All metal boxes must be grounded per code.

As to your question concerning the requirement that gypsum wallboard be installed
throughout the house, this is not a code requirement. 1/4" plywood paneling may
be installed over wood studs at 16" c -c without backing.
