Dillabo: I August 15, 1979 RE: Special Inspection #48-79 (AP 24-281-3) With reference to the above subject, my letter dated July 25, 1979, and your request for a hearing with the Butte County Board of Appeals dated July 31, 1979, the Butte County Board of Appeals met on August 13, 1979.. The Board of Appeals granted your appeal from Item #7. in my letter dated July 25, 1979, due to the -fact that you have adequate distance between your building and the property line to provide'equivalent protection. to a fire retardant roof.' It did, however, insist that at such time as the building is reroofed, that the beauty shop roofing comply with the code requirements in effect at that time. The inspection revealed the following..itemswhich must be done if you proceed with the conversion: .. " .. ....., ` 1. Provide adequate combustion air to the proposed compartment around the gas water heater and gas heating unit. 2. Provide one (1) standard 30exit door to the beauty shop. 3. Provide light and ventilation for the beauty shop by windows eggal to 1/8th the floor area, 1/2 openable, or by mechanical ventilation. 4. The building must be accessible to the physically handicapped. 3. The restroom must be accessible and'usable to the physically handicapped with floors and walls protected per Section 1711 of the Uniform Building Code (see attached). 6. All electrical and plumbing shall conform to the code requirements. 7. The roofing over the beauty shop must'be-fire retardant or Special Purpose Roof per Uniform Building Code Standard No.•32-14 (see attached). 8. Provide R-11 insulation in the exterior walls and R-19 in the ceiling and use a night setback control on the heating and air conditioning units. 9. Obtain approval from the Butte County Health Department for your sewage disposal system., If you decide to proceed with the conversion, it is now in order for you to submit three (3) plot plans, floor plans, and details of your proposed conversion to this office, apply for the required permits, and pay the appropriate fees.
