An inspection was conducted on May 1, 2000 and the drainpipes from the kitchen are open and emptying on the ground. According to Butte County Code gray water is considered sewage. Also the septic tank cover is not watertight and is open enough to allow access to rodents and insects. Allowing sewage to overflow is in violation of Butte County Code Chapter 19 as follows Section 19-3, it shall be unlawful for any person to maintain, occupy or use any building not provided with a sewage disposal system which disposes of sewage in a sanitary manner. Section 19-4 (a) Sewage overflowing any lands whatever. Section 19-4 (c) Sewage being accessible to rodents, insects or humans. It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte County Code; however, you should be advised that Butte County has an active'Code Enforcement program that provides an effective means of enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement will be pursued through the issuance of citations, fines, and recording Notices of Violation including a description of the actions necessary to abate the violation.
