Recommended Mitigation measures: t_ 1. No mitigation measures are recommended at this time regarding botanical impacts or the vernal. pools. A botanical survey of the property iG necessary in order to determine if significant botanical resources exist on the property and, if so, to develop appropriate mitigation measures. The applicant should contact a qualified botanist in order to have the survey performed, 2. All on-site lighting to be directed away from neighboring properties, streets and highways 3. Mason 7 County Center Drive Tentative Parcel Map Oroville, CA. 95965 A.P. 25-24-87 l Dear John: We have made an on site inspection of the parcel listed on the: tentative parcel map. The project site is located east, of, and in the immediate proximity to the Orovill.e Wildlife area., This area provides a natural mosquito breeding habitat for disease vectoring mosquitoes, and is subject to high ]revels of mosquitoes from late spring through early fall. The project location is we11 in the flight range of these mosquitoes,, and people in this area can expect to be bitten. As a specific condition of approval we,recommend that the an existing sewer ponds be maintained in a'wa proposed lake d g p Y that prevents mosquito breeding. Vegetation control along the banks will help eliminate grassy shorel1nes that provide.a habitat' for mosquitoes to breed in. The elimination of weeds and other vegetation around these ponds will also aid District personnel in inspections and treatments of mosquitoes. The sewer ponds have been a continuing problem in the past, ai%d have required many treatments through out the sunimer months by our Zleld. staff. The new lake should also be stocked with mosquito eating fish to provide natural mosquito control: These specific recommendations have been discussed with Kathy Mason on October 3, 1989, and it is our understanding that these recommendations will be followed. We realize that the periodic 'removal of vegetation is a short terra remedy, due to rapid regrowth. However, the continued maintenance of these ponds is critical, and will help provide protection for the against mpeople of this community a g mosquitoes ' and the, diseases the transmit: These comments are consistent with the'bistrict's adopted policy called, "Guidelines; Ctecklllst and Standards for Vector Prevention in Proposed Developments", if you have any questions regarding Ott reCr55mmendat ,o'ns please feel free to contact our office:' i A >7aniel C. each "` `~'Regional Su ervisor , .. +, DN' ', dm I COUi'iV OF BUTTE .: DEPARTt1ENT OF PUBLIC' WORKS 7 County Center Drive Oroville, CA 95965 (916) 538-7266, j September 29, 1989 i I Tody R.
