Brown CE 24578 Alchard Barnhart LS 4202 Thomas Odekirk LS 3991 Michael Evans VP Thomas Finlayson LS 2900 Pursuant to your request, we have investigated the flood -hazard potential of your proposed building site on the above parcel fronting Highway 70 in Butte County. We have consulted with the Department of Water Resources and reviewed their flood information in this area. Their aerial photographs .taken' of the December 24, 1964 flood, show that the subject property was not inundated at that time. According to the Department of Water Resources Chief of Operations, this -flood .resulted from a release of 150,000 CFS from Oroville Dam'; or the equivalent of a 1 in 100 year flood. Based on this information, it is our 'opin'ion that the building site would not be subject to flooding during a storm with a 1 in 100 year recurrarce-interval. With the capability and necessity to control releases from Oroville Dam, the Department of Water Resources predicts that statistically this flood will occur 4 times in 100 years. Coupling this with the fact that the parcel is on the fringe of the inundated area, it is our suggested recommendation that the finished floor elevation be set as high as practical above the surrounding ground to provide additional protection from flood hazard.
