P>#026-010-047 Dear Mr. Vieira, June 27, 2001 We are trying to understand how we can be held responsible to comply with the requests in the letter we received from your office dated May 14th, 2001. We did not know anything about the buildings at the time of construction, and we do not know when they were built. There is no construction going on now. This has caused us lots of stress trying to figure out, how on our fixed income of social security and rent from the mobile home, that we could even begin to meet the requirements as listed. We do not have any financial backing to pull from. to purchase the permits, have plans drawn by a contractor, or to complete having the buildings brought to current building code. In the absence of any wrong doing on our part, we are asking to be released from the requirements stated in the above mentioned letter. We do appreciate your concern indicated in our phone conversations, and your help in obtaining the amount of the building permits. We also thank you for granting us a 30 day extension' to have time to try and sort out the situation. We hope your decision will be favorable to our request, and understanding of our situation. Failure to obtain the required permits, inspections and approvals from this office for the construction of a 30x40 garage and a 10x18 shed. Since permits and inspections are required for the above work, please submit three (3) complete sets of plans, apply for the required permits, and pay the appropriate fees. All work must stop until these permits are issued and you are authorized by our field inspector to proceed. The field authorization cannot be made until the existing work is inspected and approved. It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte County Code. However, you should be advised that Butte County has an active Code Enforcement Program which provides an effective . means of enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement may be pursued through the issuance of citations, fines and the recording of a Notice of Violation including a description of the action necessary to abate the violation. You have thirty (30) days to voluntarily comply with the above directions or to present an acceptable plan for abatement or corrective actions to be taken by you.
