APr` 26-020-003. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Isbell, etal: This department has received a complaint alleging health and safety hazards in. the above.listed dwelling. The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you are the owners.of the property. On December.2, 1981 I.visited the site and was permitted by the tenant :to inspect the dwelling. The following conditions were observed which are. violations of the California Administrative Code, Title 25, Chapter 1, Subchapter 1, State Housing Law Regulations, and which pose health or.safety hazards to the occupants 1. The gas fired water heater lacks a temperature -pressure relief valve, and discharge line, and has an improperly installed flue which is a potential fire hazard. 2. The gas fired space heater is malfunctioning as evidenced by soot on the wall and ceiling above the heater.and in proximity to the flue. Controls not .operating properly. 3• Cover plate is missing on wall switch in bedroom nearest bathroom, wall switch has openings in side in small bedroom by kitchen,, extension cord• tacked to ceiling, runs from ceiling fixture in front bedroom (zip cord), fluorescent lighting is inoperative in.bathroom, the 220 volt wiring from breaker panel to range is unprotected, open wising is evident near water heater at rear of house, wall receptacle is not secured in kitchen. 4• The laundry. waste .line lacks a proper trap. 5. Floor tile are loose or missing rear bedroom by bathroom, there is a hole' in the floor of the small bedroom by the kitchen. W -,TM and Shirley Isbell, etal age 2 6. There are openi.gs'through.the walls to the exterior in the bathroom, and under the kitchen sink permitting entry of rodents and weather. There'is ceiling damage in.the rear bedroom.near the kitchen. 7. Recent wind storm has dislodged shingles from the roof area near the.front. porch. Please correct these conditions_.as follows; and within THIRTY (30) DAYS from receipt of this notice. Obtain any required permits from the Butte County Department of Public Works,, #7 County Center Drive, Oroville, California. 1. Provide a properly installed temperature—pressure, relief valve and discharge line_and flue on the water heater. Repair -or replace the gas fired space heater so all combustion gases are confined to the heater, and properly discharged through -the flue. Repair or replace defective control. 3. Replace missing cover plate and open wall switch. Remove extension cord r+�^ ,5� in front bedroom, repair or replace defective fluorescent bathroom lighting. �" Provide proper protection on 220 volt range.wiring, eliminate open wiring near water heater, anchor wall receptacle in kitchen.
