As I have stated, I purchased this property just over two years ago and at that time I was never informed about the storage building on this site as being built without a proper permit. In the course of my attempt to construct a new building within the limits of the law, I only learned at this time that the building in question (small storage building) was not up to code., - As we discussed, I am aware of the Code Enforcement Program, since I have worked within an organization that was instrumental in acquiring funding for the program. I am aware that this building is in violation and I intend to make the necessary changes to bring it within the prescribed limits of the code. I hope to begin this process in the near future and as we discussed, I am currently in the process of building a garage on my property. Soon after this construction is complete, I will begin work on the building in question and I expect to either have the building removed or brought up to code, the latter will be done with proper permits. I hope this letter will remind you of my intentions and my good faith effort to correct this problem. All I need is a little time to get this complete. Thank you for your understanding. All work must stop until these permits are issued and you are authorized by our field inspector to proceed. The field authorization cannot be made until the existing work is inspected and approved. It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte County Code. However, you should be advised that Butte County has an active Code Enforcement Program which provides an effective means of enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement may be pursued through the issuance of citations, -fines and the recording of a Notice of Violation including a description of the action necessary to abate the violation.
