System Type. Only wet pipe systems may be utilized. Hydraulic Design. The minimum re- quired sprinkler flow rate for systems designed to NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R are given in Table A as a function of temperature rating and the maximum allowable coverage areas. The sprin- kler flow rate is the minimum"required discharge from each of the total number of "design sprinklers" as speci- fied in NFPA 13D or NFPA 13R. For systems designed to NFPA 13, the number of design sprinklers is to be TFP400 (2,4 m). The maximum spacing be- tween sprinklers cannot exceed the length of the coverage area (Ref. With the sprinkler held horizontally, a small air bubble should be present. The diameter of the air bubble is approximately 1/16 inch (1,6 mm). I A leak tight 1/2 inch NPT sprinkler joint should be obtained with a torque of 7 to 14 ft.lbs. (9,5 to 19,0 Nm). A maxi- mum of 21 ft.lbs. (28,5 Nm) of torque is to be used to install sprinklers. In addition, the Form M4 low pressure cut-off feature aids in preserving the life of the pump. When pressure in the system drops to approximately 10 P.S.I. below the set cut -in point for any reason, such as a low water condition, the switch will open to turn off the pump.* When the condition has been relieved, the manual lever is turned to the start position and, if pressure \i R. is restored while holding there, the switch resumes normal operation. The Form M4 manual lever also has an off position for com- plete pump shutdown. IMPORTANT: The cut -in point must not be set lower than 19 P.S.I.; consequently, the cut-out point on rising pressure must _ - Sri" not be lower than 30 P.S.I.
