The project area is ;located approkimately two miles southeast of Palermo in tho Vi of Section 23; T. 18 N., R. 4,E., Palermo & Bangor Quadrangles, 745' series. The proposed project is to divide the property into 31 parcels. Prior to conducting a field survey .of the project area o..oh3ul�kpd the archaeological site record files maintained at California State UniversitYi Chico to determine if any previously recorded cultural resources Were located.. Within, recorded cultural resources wore located it previously this or adjacent to, the properly boo located within this area. The property is characterized by gently` rolling, fcothill terrain covored by an +open, Oak �grassland vegetation. Wyah�lott Creek floWs tt,rough the northwest corner of the project area. One inte'tmittent drainage flows east to west through the central portion of the property With a few ephemeral drainages in the o,buthern portion. Rook Outcroppingsare relatively infrequent 'throughout the ax-ea and ground visibility Was generally very good, 'The road system for the proposed project has been graded through the property and my survey u`ilized this road hstem to divide the property into smaller Survey blocks block was inspected by my walking linear transects with a ten meter interval 8paoing back and forth within the block until the entire area had been covered. The entire property area Was inspected in this mahner.
