I have received a phone call from Perry Reniff at the Butte County Sheriffs Department regarding your request to have the squatters removed from your property. He queried our department for some form of authority or ownership for you to act on behalf of Harbor Light Chapel, Inc. I have searched the Assessor's records for some form of connection between yourself and Harbor Light Chapel, Inc. I have not been successful in this endeavor. I believe the Sheriffs Department will assist you in your efforts to remove the unauthorized tenants at the site, but it will 'be necessary to show some form of authority or ownership for them to take action. You have been timely and co-operative in each case. After receiving verification that you were indeed authorized to act on behalf of the Harbor Light Chapel, I again contacted Perry Reniff of the Butte County Sheriffs Department. He stated that even though we had established ownership, the owner would be required to file a report of trespass in his office before he could begin enforcement. The Sheriffs Department would then act as a care taker of sorts for a period of six months to prevent a similar problem. I I informed the Sheriffs Department that you reside in San Diego and that it would undoubtedly be -difficult for you to file a report in Butte County, but apparently this is the procedure that must be followed. At this point I would recommend that you speak directly with the Sheriffs Department to alleviate the problem. A recent trip to the property has verified that the violation still exists and requires resolution. Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Michael Vieira or Scott Rutherford in this office at the address or telephone the number listed above.
