Checking, Right of Way I F December 28, 1976 Candelario Melendez RE: Earthquake Damaged'Dwelling Rt. 2, Box 2597 (AP 28-071-4) Oroville,.Ca., 95965= Dear Mr. Melendez,:, With reference to the above subject and your request for an inspec- tion of your dwelling located on the'west,side of Second.Street approximately 600 ft, north of Lower Honcut Road in Honcut,.the. inspection was.made on December 22, 1976. The residence is constructed of what looks like hand -made units of red dirt or clay over which.has.been applied a coat of cement or stucco. The existing structural condition of.these walls is very poor due to the softness of the units and the severe structural damage caused by the earthquake. In addition to the condition of the walls, the roof and floor con- struction systems show evidence of structural deficiencies'and- deterioration. The building is not weathertite, the electrical system is inadequate and hazardous, the gas hot water heater is not vented and does not have a temperature and pressure relief valve; the building is not heated, and the general overall condition of the building is poor. As we discussed with you, it is imperative that you obtain alternate living quarters and abandon this structure at the earliest possible time.
