Dear- Mr. ;Bolla'nd
The pepartment.of fish and GaMe has reviewed the GOla Mountain Tentative
project is a p . p 38 acres into four parcels
Parcel Ma's: The proposal, to split
of 9.:5 acres each: The lora ficin is :near Rackerby, Butte County and is
within the Mooretown. Deer IIerd winter range ASB!.
The.'Department has been directed by the legislature to maintain and enhance
wild deer populations. Since it has been determined' that 40 acres is the
minimum parcel size on deer winter range that will, maintain deer numbers;
the DepartiMMt opposes the lot 'split; and recommends that the subject Tenta=
tive Parcel Map be denied.
if- the Department can be of further: assistance,, please contact Jerry Merlsch,
i;hvironmental`servicas Supervisor, telephone (916) 355-7030.

Mr;: Steve Streeter
Butte County.Planning Department
seven Comity Center Drive
O'roville, CA 556ri5
Dear Mr. Streeter-
'his letter is to clarity the Department o Posh and
Game'e objection to the
Gold Mountain Tentative Parcel Maps it relates to
the Mboretcwn Deer Tlero
winter range. The proposed split of the,38-afire parcel
into four 9.5-4acre
lots would essentially remove that acreage from the
herd winter range, thus
reducing the number of deer the range can support.
Since this is a det'ri-
mental environmental impact that cannot be mitigated
with the parcel split,
the 'tentative Parcel Map should be denied:s
If the Department can be of further ass istande; please
contact Jerry Menseh,
Environmental Services supervisor, telephone (516).3551-7030.
