RE: Hazardous Electrical & Gas Conditions

A Building Inspector of this Division and an Environmental Health official have made inspections
at the above referenced location and found hazardous electrical conditions and hazardous gas
appliances. Although the dwelling is occupied at this time, an immenent danger exists at the,
electrical sub -panel, an improperly vented water heater and other gas appliances being operated in
an unsafe condition. As the Building Official for Butte County, I am requesting that electrical and
gas service to the structure referenced above be disconnected until appropriate actions are taken
to resolve hazards. Further, I request that electric and gas service not be re -connected until an
authorization from this Division is granted to do so.

1) Elec. is old ungrounded'system.
2) One elec. box was not made up with a receptacle, so wires are
extending out of box at an easily accessible level.
3) Sub -panel is a surface mount panel with fuses -mounted in shower. Not
weather tight, open KO's, no clamps on wires, wet location, extremely
hazardous.
4) H2O heater flue terminates in attic area, but there is no ceiling in
compartment. Compartment is in the bathroom.

This is a courtesy notice to notify you that you are in violation
of California Health and Safety Code Section 17920.3 and Butte
County code, as follows, at the above -referenced location.
A. Structural Hazards
Structural hazards include but are not necessarily limited to
the following defects noted during the inspection.
1. Noted holes in walls and floor (kitchen)
2. Floor "gives" in south bedroom.
B. Faulty Weather Protection
1. Lack of paint to some of interior walls.
2. Broken windows
3. Lack of weather protection due to lack of
paint or other approved protective covering.
Noted missing exterior wood paneling at rear
of house.
C. Hazardous Wiring
1. According to owner electrical wall outlet
"shorts out."
2. Noted bare wire in south bedroom and in
electrical box.
D. Inadequate Maintenance
1. Deteriorated window sills
2. Noted mold in bathroom
3. Gaps around rear door
4. Plumbing to kitchen sink not installed
properly

It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the
Butte County Code. However, you should be advised that Butte
County has an active Code Enforcement Program which provides an
effective means of enforcement when voluntary compliance is not
obtained. Enforcement may be pursued through the issuance of
citations, fines and the recording of a Notice of Violation
including a description of the action necessary to abate the
violation.
You have thirty (30) days to voluntarily comply with the above
directions to present an acceptable plan 'for abatement or
corrective actions to be taken by you.
