RE: Housing Complaint - 1284 Euclid•Avenue, Oroville, CA - APS 30-14-0-005
Dear Mr. Chamberlin:
This department received a complaint alleging health and safety hazards in
the above listed rental dwelling. The Butte County Assessor's records in-
dicate you are the owner of the property.
On December 9, 1983, I visited the property and the tenant allowed me to
make an inspection. The following conditions were observed which are in
violation of the California Administrative Code, Title 25, Chapter 1, Sub-
chapter 1; State Housing Law Regulations; and the California Health and
Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(1), (b)(6), (d), (f), and (g)(2)(3); and
which pose health or safety hazards to the tenants.
1. The front porch roof is. sagging and appears to be in danger of collapse.
2. The living room ceiling is broken near the heater and appears to be
sagging from failure of ceiling rafter. Ceiling is damaged in rear bed-
room due to water leak.
3.' There is open wiring exposed above the kitchen sink. Wall receptacle is
not properly mounted behind refrigerator. The ceiling light fixture is
hanging loose in rear bedroom.
4. The heater flue does not appear to be a proper installation.
5. The roof leaks as evidenced by water damage to rear bedroom ceiling.
6. !-;indo:ws are not weatherproof in the living room, and in room next to
kitchen. Windows are also broken in the same areas.

These conditions shall be corrected within THIRTY (30) DAYS from receipt of
this notice, as follows. Obtain any required permits from the Butte County
Department of Public Works, 7 County Center Drive, Oroville, CA; prior to
making repairs.
1. Repair or replace the damaged front porch roof.
2. Repair or replace the cracked, sagging living room ceiling, replacing
rafters as needed. Repair water damaged rear bedroom ceiling.
3. Eliminate exposed wiring above the kitchen sink. Properly anchor the
loose receptacle behind the refrigerator. Properly anchor the loose
ceiling light fixture in the bedroom.
4. Provide proof of proper installation of the heater flue, with required
separation and clearances from combustibles.
5. Repair or replace the roof eliminating all leaks.
6. Make all windows weathertight. Replace all broken windows.
A reinspection will be made. Failure to comply with this notice will result
in the Franchise Tax Board being notified of your non-compliance. You will
then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes, depreciation,
amortization, or interest expenses connected with the property as long as it
remains substandard. This notice is given.to you pursuant to Sections 17299
and 24435.5 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code.
