NOTICE TO BUILDERS
Before your building permit can be issued, your plans must be checked for compliance with the California Building Codes. In
addition, your plans are routed to other regulatory entities including but not limited to Planning, Public Works, Environmental
Health, and the California Department of Forestry for their clearances and approvals. There are some things you can do to
expedite your permit:
0 Make sure your application is complete.
0 Be responsive to requests from County departments for any additional materials or requirements.
The Building Division places its highest priority on processing building permits as quickly as possible and each day that passes
without a complete application adds to processing time.
Every permit issued by the Building Official shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not
started or completed within one year from the date of issuance of such permit. A permit may be renewed (for a fee) prior to
expiration an indefinite number of times, provided construction progress has been documented by the Building Division during
each year during scheduled inspections. No changes may be made in the original plans and specifications for such work. In
order to reinstate action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit fee and additional plan checking
and documentation may be required. Upon completion of work covered by this permit, please contact this office for final
inspection. As a reminder to you, it is illegal to occupy this building or any portion of the building for which this permit is
issued without a final inspection.
EXPIRATION OF PERMIT APPLICATION AND REFUND POLICY
Application for which a permit has not been issued will expire one year after date of application.
Refunds may only be made upon written request by the person who originally paid the fees. Refunds for permit applications
(not yet issued) must be requested within two years from the date of fee payment. Fees paid at the time of application are
for Plan Check and administration. The Plan Check portion of fees is refundable only if the permit is cancelled or withdrawn
before any plan checking is done. Building Division costs will be deducted prior to authorizing a refund and a charge of
$54.99 to process the refund application will be assessed. Refunds on permits (issued) may be requested prior to the expiration
of the permit, provided no work has been done pursuant to the permit. An Inspection may be required (and deducted from any
refund amount) to determine no work was done.

§ 1335.5. Load Bearing Support Systems. Without Manufacturer's Installation Instructions.
(a) MH -units manufactured prior to October 7,1973, or MH -units for which the manufacturer's installation
instructions are unobtainable, shall be supported in accordance with this subsection or on a foundation system in
accordance with section 18551 of the Health and Safety Code. MH -units installed in areas exceeding a thirty (30) -
pound roof live load, or to different requirements than prescribed in this section, shall have support systems
designed and approved by an architect or engineer. The MH -unit shall be supported as follows:
'(1) Main chassis beam supports spaced not more than six (6) feet apart longitudinally, as determined from
table 1335.5-1,
(2) Ridge beam support systems as determined from table 1335.5-2, and
(3) wall supports under each end of a side wall opening that is forty-eight (48) inches or more in width, and
under the perimeter walls at eight (8) foot intervals with footing sizes not less than two hundred seventy-five
(275) square inches.

REQUIREMENTS
• These plans and specifications meet the requirements of Title 25 Section 1336.3 Sub Section A
and 97 UBC Seismic Requirements, CBC 2001 addition.
• Maximum vertical projection at sidewall is 9'. Higher walls may be used when the design loads are
adjusted accordingly and approved by HUD.
• Main rail spacing must be 75.5" - 99.5" *Except single sections 95" minimum
• Additional vertical anchor ties that are unique to a home's design may be required by the home
manufacturer. These locations may include shear walls, marriage.line ridge beam support posts, and rim
plates. The longitudinal component of the Xi2 system replaces end frame ties. Check manufacturers
set-up requirements.
• Maximum pier height is 48" pier. *Except for single sections 36".
• Steel piers must be fastened to the I-beam with clamps provided with steel pier.
• Systems must be placed as evenly as possible, no more than 10' from end of home.
• Designed for 7:12 roof slope.*Except single sections, (20° - 4.37 in. 12" pitch).
Additional Requirements for Concrete Systems
• Poured concrete must be 2,500 PSI minimum at 28 days.
• Square concrete pads minimum is 18" wide by 12" deep. Round concrete pads minimum is 18" wide by
14" deep. Strip footings minimum is 18" wide by 14' long by 6" deep.

An application for a building permit has been submitted in your name listing yourself as the builder of the property improvements specified.
For your protection you should be aware that as "owner -builder" you are the responsible party of record on such a permit. Building permits are not required to be signed
by property owners unless they are personally performing their own work. If your work is being performed by someone other than yourself, you may protect yourself from
possible liability if that person applies for the proper permit in his or her name.
Contractors are required by law to be licensed and bonded by the State of California and to have a business license from the city or county. They are also required by
law to put their license number on all permits for which they apply.
If you plan to do your own work, with the exception of various trades that you plan to subcontract, you should be aware of the following information for your benefit and
protection:
° If you employ or otherwise engage any persons other than your immediate family, and the work (including materials and other costs) is $500 or more for the entire
project and such persons are not licensed as contractors or subcontractors, then you may be an employer.
n If you are an employer, you must register with the state and federal government as an employer and you are subject to several obligations including state and federal
n income tax withholding, federal social security taxes, workers/ compensation insurance, disability insurance costs, and unemployment compensation contributions.
There may be financial risks to you if you do not carry out these obligations, and these risks are especially serious with respect to workers' compensation insurance.

If the structure is intended for sale, property owners who are not licensed contractors are allowed to perform their work personally or through thier own employees,
without a license contractor or subcontractor, only under limited conditions.
A frequent practice of unlicensed persons professing to be contractor is to secure an "owner -builder" building permit, erroneously implying that the property owner is
providing his or her own labor and material personally. Building permits are not required to be signed by property owners unless they are performing their own work
personally.

thereto. All work shall be in accordance with the 2001 California Building Code (2001 CBC), 2001
California Plumbing Code (2001 CPC), 2001 California Mechanical Code (2001 CMC), 2004 California
Electrical Code (2004 CEC) and the 2005 California Energy Efficiency Standards.
Building Code Requirements
B-1 Private stairways and steps serving an occupant load of less than 10 may be
constructed with an 8 -inch maximum rise, a 9 -inch minimum run, and a 36 -inch minimum
width. The largest tread run and the greatest riser height within any flight of stairs shall not
exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch. Stairways having four or more risers require at
least one handrail. The handgrip portion of handrails shall be not less than 1-1/4" nor more
than 2" in cross-sectional dimension and placed between 34 inches and 38 inches above the
nosing of the treads. Maintain 6 feet 8 inches of headroom clearance. 2001 CBC Section
1003.3.3.
B-1 a Landings shall have a width not less than the width of the door or the width of the stairway
served, whichever is greater. In Group R-3 and Group U occupancies, landings shall have a
length measured in the direction of travel of not less than 36". 2001 CBC Sections
1003.3.1.7 and 1003.3.3.5.
B-2 Guardrails in Groups R-3 and U-1 are required on elevated areas of 30" or greater above
surrounding grade or floor level and shall be a minimum of 36 inches high. Open guardrails
shall have intermediate rails or an ornamental pattern such that a sphere 4 inches in
diameter cannot pass through as per 2001 CBC Section 509.
B-3 All foundation sills, plates, sleepers, posts, and columns that rest on concrete or
masonry must be foundation grade redwood or treated and marked material branded
by an approved agency as per 2001 CBC Sections 2306.4 and .5. Where not subject to
water splash or exterior moisture, wood may be untreated when in compliance with 2001
CBC Section 2306.8.
B-4 Cutting and notching of exterior walls and bearing partitions shall not be greater than 25
percent of the stud width. Cutting or notching of studs to a depth not greater than 40 percent
of the width of the stud is permitted in nonbearing partitions supporting no loads other than
the weight of the partition. 2001 CBC Section 2320.11.9.
B-5 A hole not greater in diameter than 40 percent of the stud width may be bored in any
wood stud. Bored holes not greater than 60 percent of the width of the stud are permitted in
nonbearing partitions or in any wall where each bored stud is doubled, provided not more
