Dear Mr. & Mrs. Manning: This department received complaints alleging health and safety hazards in the above listed rental dwelling. The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you are the owners of the property. On December 9, 1985, I visited the property and the tenant permitted me to inspect her rental unit. The following conditions were observed which are in violation of the Butte County Code, CHapter 19, Section 19-4 Unlawful Sewage DIsposal Methods; and the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(12), (d), (e) and (g)(2)(4); and which pose health -or safety hazards to the tenants. 1. Newly repaired sewer line appears to be leaking with waste water standing on ground surface above line. 2. There appears to be a short circuit in`the bathroom light switch which causes electrical shocks. Wall receptacle by rear door in kitchen is in- operative. 3. Kitchen sink waste drain plumbing is leaking. 4. Water heater flue is an unsafe installation with possible fire hazard existing. There is no discharge line on temperature -pressure relief valve. 5. Rear bedroom (children's) roof leak is flowing down wall.. 6. Rear kitchen exit door is not vermin or weatherproof. 7. Rodents are entering house and rear porch area. These conditions shall be corrected as follows and within THIRTY (30) DAYS from receipt of this notice. Seven County Center Drive Oroville, California Dear Mr. Glander: With reference to our conversation this morning, I spoke with Mr. Max Thomas, Branch Manager of Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Sacramento, regarding the problems you stated that you experienced with 3/8 - 4x8 Cladwood siding used on a Federally funded project in Oroville. As I told you, Publishers has not received notice of this claim and Mr. Thomas stated he also did not have any record of it. 'As Georgia- Pacific is our sole distributor in Northern California, the claim, if it was filed, must have been settled or turned down by the local lumber yard that supplied the project. Cladwood has been used as exterior siding for nearly twenty years and we are very proud of our reputation for producing a high-quality trouble free product. Consequently, when a situation develops like this, we are very interested in getting into it and determining what happened. In this case, your assistance in furnishing us with the job locations, and .contractor(s) involved will be followed up with an inspection and we will report our findings to you.
