We had to restructure the roof on the old part of the house to fit with the new construction over the 'carport and bedroom. A gutter and drain system was installed along the roof line of the front of the house. All of the work done to this unit was'the results of discover- ies that were made after opening.the walls in the areas of obvious damage. It was impossible to tell that it wfas this extensive until such work had begun. nAs these new areas were opened up thorough inspections were made of the areas and all of the systems were brought ul; to code. We had to restructure the roof on the old part of the house to fit with the new construction over the carport and bedroom. A gutter and drain system was installed along the roof line of the front of the house. All of the'work done to this unit was!the results of dscover- ies that were made after opening the walls in the areas of obvious damage. In removing materiel from this area and exposing the foundation inside the building we discovered that there was inadequate q pier blocks in the center of each side of the main building. The entire kitchen cabnet system was of such a damaged condition that it required that the whole thing be replaced with new cabnets. Moving to the area of the kitchen and livingroom where previously the hot water heater was located. It had leaked and there was water damage and -dry rot in the foundation. The hot water heater had been located in a closet of sorts that was in the area between the.kitchen and the livingroom. Beside this closet and in the wd--,ll that was inbetween the kitchen and the livingroom there was an extremely large block flue. This flue extended from under the house up through the rooP.. The flue was of considerable weight, and the -support underneith it had deteroprated.' The livingroom floor and kitchen floor slanted in the- direction of the location of the hot water heater and this block flue. All of the extra work that was done on this building was the results of discoverys that were made after opening the floors and walls in the area of'dbvious damage. It was impossible to tell that, it was ,this extensive until such work had begun:. As these new areas were opened up thorough inspection were made. of the, area and all of the systems were brought up to code. The building as it stands now 'Will' pass any inspectign and is up to code in every respect. The wall itself was eliminated opening the area between the kitchen and the livingroom into a joint unit. Moving to the Bathroom. The bathroom°walls were damaged by water damage and dry rot and some repairs were necessary there. All the plumbing and -the other fixturesincl,u-din-g_ a v e_n t=s y.s t:e mzan d=t.h e rl_i_g-hti_n_gr s_.y-s�-t-em-h-a-d—to— b e %replaced---to�b•ring them up to code. When discovery was made that they were of a substandard nature. Moving to the windows. U p o nor eemo y�i_n_gt h=e=o_1_dr s -t y 1 e�w n=d o_ws--i n `th e 1 v =n-g_r o o..,_ mean d th-e: f-r-o-nt=b--e=d=room it was found .that the wall studs in the area of the windows and doors were water damaged and had dry rot. All of the studs and the headers on the front door and the two windows had to be replaced at this time.' New studs were placed a l l along t h e front walls. These units had to completely be removed and new studding and headers installed and the subfloor was rapaired and door aad'.winddw•was replaced with new ones.' Moving to the back bedroom. In the wall around the window down to the foundation there was dry rot and water damage- This area and=t-h-i.s�w-a-l-law-a-sem �removeA_a=nd--n-ew—stud walls and proper foundati�66—an:d=: ea-dess . T. for-th_e;wi=nd=ows—were—iristalled,.�„— A=new window was installed. The electrical in.this area was brought up to code. Other necessary changes. Upon making the q-h-ang-es�to=the- electr--i,cal system it became necessary to insi`all�a=n=e.w;�1=U=U�a=mp breaker system arra eiiii.ind•te the old fuse system that was in the house. T h e: h o_t wat=a:rit-anrk=and=s_y_-s t=e m --w a s moved into a new c los-e t in the garage and replumbing was done to bring iti.iip to code. The cooler system which previously.came through the wall in one side of the bedroom where there was extensive water damage caused by the system had to be removed and placed upon the roof. Replumbing and new electrical circuits were applied for the cooler, and it wa's brought up to code. The—h_e_at?i:n-gsy-s-tem as in one of the walls that had to be , removed to repair water damage in the kitchen. -'It was found that it'was old and cou.ld.not be adequately repaired so it was replaced —N-"e-w-=pipe=for"th=e=gas—was Inst -a -1 -led; and the system was brought up to code. f Due to the extensive repairs in the areas of.all windows and door s and the replacement of nonworking windows and doors the walls on the outside of the intire building had to be c o -v e-r-e-d=w t h- n -e w--�3 % 8'-'--_p-1 y w o o d -s ii d -in -g-. . T h e interior walls and c:eilings.had to be covered with sheet tock, -and refininshed. All of the extra work that wasodone on this building was the results of discoverys that were made after opening the floors and -walls in the area of,dbvious damage. It was impossible to tell that, it was.this extensive until such work had begun'.. As these new -areas were opened up thorough inspectionwere made. of the area and all of the systems were brought up to code. The building as it stands now will pass any inspectign'and is up to code'in every respect.
