Dear Mr. McLaughlin -
On October 19, 1976 representatives of the Building Department and myself
investigated a complaint regarding the housing facilities located on your
property (A.P.# 3$-18-$7) on Avenue opposite Taylor Avenue in the
Durham area. The dwelling is occupied by the.3anchez family consisting
of tw6 adult couples and five children.
Besides the obvious overcrowding of the house, the problems appeared to be
mostly a lack of maintenance. However,, the following list of deficiencies
were.observed and must be corrected:
1. The wood burning stove pipe was improperly connected to the
flue. Provide.a proper connection.
2. The f:i^lshing Machine, kitchen sink and bathtub either were not
connected to the septic tarp; system, or were improperly connected.
Connect all plumbing fixtures to the septic tank.
3. 'r, ectrical outlets are inadequate. Provide additional outlets to
discourage the use of extension cords. Review the entire electrical
system and provide a general electrical clean-up as necessary.
4. General. a. Replace broken windows .
b. Repair holes in walls, interior and exterior
The dwelling unit appears to be structurally sound, and ti-rith the above corrections
and an overall general maintenance, should provide many more yeers of adequate
housing.
