The` public hearing on the request of Eugene T. Slocomb for a variance to
reduce required lot area- 2 lots for property zoned "A.3". southwest of Chico
River Road., Chico was held as advertised. Jim Lawson, Pianning.Director., summarized
the actions of the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission recd=ended
denial of the variance.
The Board members asked if they had the right to grarc a variance. *teal
McCabe, deputy count, counsel, saad he would have to lock into the matter of
whether the Board couid,g,rant a variance. Request set oar- sr_d discussed
and Ait'horpe,
Tom Kelly, from the law firm of McPherson J& rfxlky,/�;a=dhe was representing
Mr.;Slocumb-. This is an appeal from the decision of the Planning Commission.
Mr.. Kelly set out the purpose of this request. The variance is for size, only.
The owner desires to sell 5 acres, retaining 4.83 acres in his own name for his
use:. He said there would be a hardship if the owner were not allowed to divide
the property:
Dar B ackstock. County Counsel, read the section of ene ordinance giving
the Board :ate power to grant a variance. Mr. Blackstock feels the Board does
have the legal. au horit-< to grant this variance. Tine spent discussing the
granting of the variance.
