order to renew action on an application after expiration, a new application, plans and fees will be required.
FEE REFUNDS
Refunds can only be made upon written request by the person who paid the fee. The request must be made within

We have completed an Expansion Inde 'rest (UBC Standard 18-2) on
a sample of soil obtained from your building site.at 4001 Willow
Landing Drive. The APN for this pa cel is 039-200-071. This
test indicated an Expansion Index o 58, which is classified as
"Medium" in Table 18 -I -B of the Uni term Building Code. Soils
which have Medium or higher potenti for expansion require
special measures to minimize the ef acts of soil expansion.
It is our -understanding you are pla ring a raised floor
structure, except for the Great Roo and the Garage, which will
be constructed with slab -on -grade f: hors. In the portions of the
structure where raised floors are p nnned, all footings and piers
should extend to a depth of 24" be]. finished pad elevation.
Nominal reinforcing in strip footir, should be not less than two
No. 4 bars near the bottom and two 4 bars near the top. The
need for additional reinforcing in rip footings and in pier
footings should be based on design cads. If construction occurs
during dry, weather, we recommend soaking the footing excavations
for about 24 hours prior to placing concrete in order to pre -
swell the supporting soil.
In portions of the str_,,.ture where 'lab -on -grade floors are
planned, we recommend removing 12" r the native soil and
replacing it with granular non-expz: sive soil (such as road. base)
compacted to at least 90% relative ompaction. Prior to placing
granular-fill"material, the native nil should be moisture
conditioned to 3%-4% over optimum m isture content. A pad
constructed in this manner will el: ;nate about 50% of the
potential for soil expansion. Due , the size of~the Great Room
(28' x 281), we further recommend c ostr.ucting semi-rigid
elements in the floor slab which bi ct the floor area in both
directions. Such elements should 1 constructed as thickened

for 1/2 the original building permit fee (plus a $20.00 filing
fee.). The renewal permit will extend the building permit for
an additional year from the original expiration date. Should
you not renew your permit within 30 days of the expiration date,

For your convenience, we are enclosing a renewal application form
and owner -builder form to be completed and signed by you where
indicated and returned to this office together with the fee
shown. Please return all copies of the application form.

required to verify code compliance. We are unable to renew a
permit where the work has not been started and inspected prior
to permit expiration. After expiration of your permit, no work
may be started until a new permit has been issued.
