The garage conversion and fireplace installation were done without permits and inspections from this office, so we were not able to perform the required inspections.during construction. ,We theref ore made a reasonable visual inspection without going. on the roof , under the building, 'or in the attic and found what appears to be a "0" clear- ance type fireplace which appears to conform to the intent of code require- ments. The wood stove was removed from the garage conversion and you advised the garage door would be reinstalled which would eliminate the garage conversion problem. This inspection by the County of Butte does not act as a guarantee or war- ranty as to the internal soundness of the conversion or the fireplace.
