examiner's comments are listed in PART - I below. Please respond in writing to each comment

Provide additional information and/or make revisions to plans, specifications and calculations as
follows:
Yonus room must have a minimum of 41 square feet of glass area, one half of which must be
openable. Provide larger size or additional windows to meet this requirement.
►� You must provide a clear landing at the bottom of the staircase. Door to the laundry must not
open into this landing. Please provide a pocket door at the laundry or a door which opens
into the laundry. Pantry wall also intrudes into this area as you only have two feet between
end of stairs and pantry wall. Please revise.
You must have 2 feet of clearance in front of the toilet located in the small restroom to the
north of the staircase. Clearance may not be provided by using space "under the sink".
Please revise dimensions and plans to provide correct clearance. Plan may not be noted
"provide clearance" in lieu of actually changing design as space is too tight in this area.
STRUCTURAL COMMENTS:
VK Provide 3X minimum sill plates at shear walls 3 and 4 where allowable shear exceeds 350 plf
or redesign the anchor bolt spacing using 50% of the allowable capacity in accordance with
UBC Table 23 -II -I-1 footnote 3.
2. The truss spacing shown in the truss calculations does not match the layout. The truss
calculations indicate Al trusses at 19.2" spacing and A2, A3, MA, A4, MA, B1, D1 and El
trusses at 36' spacing. Please clarify.

What You Should Know About R -Values.
The chart shows the R -value of this insulation. "R" means resistance to heat flow. The
higher the R -value, the greater the insulation power. Compare insulation R -values
before you buy.
There are other factors to consider. The amount of insulation you need depends
mainly on the climate you live in. Also, your fuel savings from insulation will depend
upon the climate, the type and size of your house, the amount of insulation already in
your house, and your fuel use patterns and family size. If you buy too much insulation,
it will cost you more than what you'll save on fuel.
To get the marked R -value, it is essential that this insulation be installed properly with
pneumatic equipment.
