Dear Mr. Urness:
With reference to the above subject and your request for inspection of the
portion of the garage which was converted to an office or den at 1929
Cummins Lane in Durham, the inspection was made on August 4, 1987.
The garage conversion was .done by you without permits and inspections from
this office, so we were not able to perform the required inspections during
construction.
We therefore made a reasonable visual inspection, without going on the roof,
under the building, or in the attic, and found the conversion appears to
conform to code requirements, except for the following items which must
be -done or resolved:
(1) Verify _ garage. firewall . adjacent _to 4this. room• -including_ installa-
tion of 1 " lid core door and closer.
(2) . Submit verification with energy design requirements and ver Ay
p � , nst lation of required items including wall and ceiling insulation.
v �� ("3) Properly install gas water heater, including proper .flue, omb -
on air openings, and installation of full si i in rom relief valve
o exterior of building.
w, 4) Verify attic access and ventilation.
Verify electric wiring conforms to code requirements.
This inspection by. the County of Butte does not act as•a guarantee or war-
ranty as.to the internal soundness of said conversion.
It is now in order for you to submit* two complete sets of plans to do the
conversion, apply for the required permits, and pay the appropriate fees.

With 'reference to the above subject and your request for inspection of the,
portion of the garage which was converted to an office or den at 1929
Cummings Lane in Durham, the inspection was made on August 4, 1987.
The garage conversion was done by you without permits and inspections from
this office, so we were not able to'perform the required inspections during
construction.
We therefore made a reasonable visual inspection, without going on the roof,
under the building, -or in the attic, and found the conversion appears to
conform to code requirements, except for the -following items which must
be done or resolved:
(1) Verify garage firewall adjacent to this room including installa-
tion of 1 3/8" solid core door and closer.
(2) Submit. verification with energy design requirements and verify
installation of required items including wall and ceiling insulation.
(3) Properly install gas water heater, including proper flue, combus-
tion air openings, and installation of full sized piping from relief valve
to exterior of building.
(4) Verify attic access and ventilation.
.(5) Verify electric wiring conforms to code requirements.
This inspection by the County of Butte does not act as a guarantee or war-
ranty as to the internal soundness of said conversion. .
It is now in order for you to submit two. complete sets of plans to do the
conversion, apply for the required permits, and pay the appropriate fees.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hofer:
With reference to the above subject and your request for inspection of
the family room and covered patio at the above address, therinspection
was made on August 11, 1988. `
The family room, adjacent bedroom and the enclosed patio were apparantly
constructed by a previous owner without permits and inspections from this
office, so we were'not able to perform the required inspections during
construction.
We therefore made a reasonable visual inspection, without going on the
roof, under the building, or in the attic, and found the family room, bed-
room and enclosed patio appear to conform to the intent of Housing Code
requirements except for the following items which must be done or resolved:
1) Provide light and ventilation for the living room, closed off
by the family room addition, per section 1205,.Uniform Building
Code.
2) Provide a stairway with equal riser heights from living room into
the family room.
3) Provide at least one receptacle in the family room and enclosed
porch.
4) Provide heating for the family room and bedroom.
5) Provide a smoke detector at bedroom entrances.
6) Verify structural adequacy of slab on grade for support of family
room and bedroom.
7) Eliminate all exposed wiring, extension cord wiring, provide face
plates on switches and receptacles, eliminate improper exterior
receptacles and properly wire and secure the receptacle in enclosed
porch closet.
8) Verify structural adequacy of small porch roof at family room
exterior door.
9) Verify bedroom escape window complies with section 1204 Uniform
Building Code.

10) Provide at least 61 clearance from the ground to all wood.
11) Provide underfloor ventilation and access for the enclosed porch.
12) Provide stairs for the easterly exterior door of the enclosed patio.
13) Provide equal riser heights and secure upper tread on northerly
stairs of the enclosed patio.
14) Obtain Health�Department approval of the sewage disposal system for
the addition bedroom.
This inspection by the.County.of Butte does not act as a guarantee or warran-
ty as to the internal soundness of said rooms.
Itis now in order for you to apply for the required permits to do the above
work and pay the appropriate fees.
The permits must be obtained and the above listed items completed a4d ap-
proved within thirty days of the date of this letter.
