Use Figure 11 or 12 to locate and mark the location of the standoff lag screw holes within the installation area. Remove the tile or shake underneath each standoff location, exposing the roofing underlayment. Ensure that the standoff base lies flat on the underlayment, but remove no more mate- rial than required for the flashings to be installed properly. Installing standoffs Drill 3/16 inch pilot holes through the underlayment into the center of the rafters at each standoff location. Securely fasten each standoff to the rafters with the two 5/16" lag screws. Ensure that the standoffs face as shown in Figure 11 or 12. Unirac steel standoffs (1 5/8 " O.D.) are designed for collared flashings available from Unirac. Aluminum two-piece standoffs (1 1/8 " O.D.) take all -metal flashings, also available from Unirac. At the time of our arrival, the grading contractor was roughly 1.01 below finish subgrade on the southerly 'half of the pad. Performed nuclear density test nos. 9 and 10 at the above shown locations. Both test results met the 90% relative compaction requirement. Was advised by the grading contractor that he intended to place and compact an additional 6" of fill on the southern half and then he would commence excavating the northern half. lie further advised that we could get tests on the final lift of the southern half when finish subgrade was attained. Departed the job at 0800 and returned at 1200 hrs. Performed two nuclear tests in the lower 1.0' of fill in the northern ha_lf of the pad at the locations shown above (test nos. 11 and 12). Both results indicated 90% relative compaction. We were advised that the grading contractor intended to be ready for further testing later this afternoon. Departed the job at 1245 hrs and returned at 1630 hrs. At this time, the north half of the pad was at approximately the same elevation. Five additional nuclear density tests were performed at the above shown locations (test nos. 13 thru 17). All test results met or exceeded the required 90% relative compaction. It should be noted that this last elevation tested is very near finish pad grade. The entire pad is within 0.5' from finish grade.
