Bolts and nuts'were identified per the AISC Manual of Steel Construction. Tensioning was by the calibrated wrench method. Our representative calibrated the erectors tensioning procedures using three -bolt assemblages for each bolt length and diameter in our Skidmore Wilhelm Tension calibrator. Following calibration, our representative verified that tensioning was completed at each tension connection. Based on the calibration tests and our observations, to the best of our knowledge, the work was completed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. Tensioning at the observed connections meet the minimum tension requirements of the Uniform Building Code. We have employed generally accepted inspection and testing procedures. However, we do not undertake the guarantee of construction nor do we relieve the contractor of his primary responsibility to produce a completed project conforming to the project plans and specifications. In response to your specific comments relating to the structural drawings: Glenn Gibbons letter of 10/25/00 Item #4 - The wood framed portion of the building is designed as a free standing structure separate from the enclosing steel building with one minor exception. One of the steel girts must be cut at the sliding door on the second floor as noted on the Second Floor Bracing Plan and Detail B/S2.1. Since this wood framed structure is designed as self-supporting and conforms with the requirements of UBC Section 2310, it is designed as conventional construction. The enclosing steel building is an engineered structure designed by Butler Manufacturing. Philo Hunt letter of 11 /3/00 • Item #3 - Attached are calculations detailing the lateral force resistance of the wood deck using a the decking as a lumber sheathed diaphragm. The loads are quite small and can be resisted by standard deck screws joining the decking to the joists which then will carry the loads to the blocking and wall. The size and spacing of both the deck screws and nailing of the blocking have now been detailed on the revised plan.
