Ring Route 1, Box 325 Oroville, CA 95965 RE: Housing Complaint - A -Frame house off Oregon Gulch Road, Oroville - AP# 41-24-100 Dear Ms. King: This department received a complaint following a flue fire in the above listed dwelling unit, alleging health and safety hazards. The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you are the owner of the property. On December ,4, 1987, I visited the property and the tenant permitted me to inspect the electrical wiring and sewage system serving his rental dwelling. The following conditions were observed which are in violation of the Butte County Code, Chapter 19, Section 19-3, 19-4, 19-5, and 19-7, and the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)(14), (d), and (e), and which pose health or safety hazards to the tenants, and renders the dwelling substandard. 1. Waste water from bathroom or'kitchen drains on ground at side of house. Laundry waste discharges on ground at rear of house. 2. Septic tank is open pit with board top. No permit or inspection found for sewage disposal system. 3. No building permits found for the A -Frame house or adjoining trailer. 4. Electrical wiring is unsafe with open splices and unprotected wiring throughout the house. �r Natalie K. King December 7, 19871 Page 2 5. Electrical wiring connection to mobile home from A -Frame has open splices and does not have shut-off at trailer. 6. Wiring is unprotected at meter and at pressure tank. 7. Laundry room wiring at rear of A -Frame has unprotected wiring which is laying on ground under the house. 8. Repair or replace flue or stove installation damaged by flue fire in A -Frame. These conditions shall be corrected as follows, and within THIRTY (30) DAYS from receipt of this notice. Obtain all required permits from the Butte County Department of Public Works, 7,County Center Drive, Oroville, CA, prior to making repairs. 1. &.2. Install an approved sewage disposal system, under permit and inspection from the Health Department, for the A -Frame house. Connect all waste water plumbing to the septic tank. 3. Provide proof of valid building permits for the A -Frame and adjoining -trailer. 4. Clean .1up electrical wiring within the house- eliminating�.open' .splices,- inoperative. fixtures, provide protection for •.all unprotected wiring. 5. Provide proper electrical wiring, breaker and connectors for mobile home adjoiningA-Frame house. 6. Provide properly installed and protected wiring•at meter pole and to pressure tank switch. 7. Provide properly installed and protected wiring for laundry room at rear of A -Frame house. 8. Provide properly installed approved flue and stove installation for the A -Frame. A reinspection will be made. Failure to comply with this notice will result in the Franchise Tax Board being advised of your non- compliance. You will then be prevented from claiming state tax deductions for taxes, depreciation, amortization, or interest expenses connected with the property as long as it remains substandard. This notice is given to you pursuant to 17299 and 24436.5 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. Natalie K.
