The proposed wory 115112 kv - substation is needed to provide adequate
capacity for the northwestern growth of the city of Chico.
The proposed substation parcel of approximately 3.6 acres is loc,--ted on
the South side of Bell Road, 1[2, mile fromm the intersection of Meridian
Road (See Exhibit "A!') � The parcel is triangular in shape with a 517 f t.
frontage on Bell Rd.,. 586.5 ft. on the western boundary and 770 ft. on
the southeast boundary whichabuts a County drainage canal. This area
is located adjacent ta the applicant's existIng Butte -Sycamore Creek
115 kv polellne.
The substation is planued to have an ultimate arrangement of three lJ5112
kv banks- However, initial co-ustrr-ction for 1975 will be only one bank..

The faclllty'vUl be built to low profile standards with a. maximum
StrULtural height of 18 feet.. except the line pul-loff structures which
win be 35 feet in height (See Exhibit "C"). An 8 ft. rustake fence
wIll enclose the facility and a, landscape plan will be developed
compatible with the surrounding area, An example of the type of
landscaping is illustrated in Exhibit "DI".

The site is approximately 1/'2 mile north of State Hic;,,:,vay 32 and 1/4 mile
nortIL of the Southern Pacific railruad tracks-whIch traverse Chico and
Nord. Chico lies- approximately 3.5 miles to -the- southeast and Nord is
aDDroximately 3 miles to the northwest.
