This is a proposal to divide 45:$ + acres to create :Four
parcels, two at 12 + acres and t7o at 10 h + acres. The
present zoning is A -'IU (Agricultura.l, 19 acre —parcels) The

this area as Orchard and Field. Crops'. There are no specific
or community plans for the area,
The proposal does not conflict with County zoning nor any
adopted or proposed element of the Butte County General

There remains the concern, however, that the project site
is located in a highly sensitive archaeological area. The
following colt -d tion should he adopted. as par of the project

Dear Mr. Lenhardt,
At your request on June 20, 1984 I conducted an archaeo-
logical survey of 45.6 acres of land owned by Robert Vietti,
APN 42-11-22. The property is located adjacent to the east
side of Meridian Avenue and the north side of Kennedy Avenue,
west of the City of CGhicot The property covers a portion
of T22N, RIE, Ord Ferry Quadrangle, 7.5' series and the
proposed project is to divide the property into four parcels.
Prior to conducting the field survey Z consulted the archaeo-
logical site record files maintained at California State
University, Chico to determine -f any previously reoorded
Cultural resources were located within the vicinity of the
project area. No cultural resources had been previously
recorded within the project vicinity.
The property is ourrontly a level almond orchard with no
structures within the property area. The ephemeral drainage
channel shown on theiU.S.G.S. topographic map has been filled
in by leveling for the orchard. mud Creek flows through
the northwest corner of the property; a levee has been
constructed along, the banks of the creek.
My 1'nbpect on of' the property area involved a surface
e;taminatior for materials or features indicative of prehistoric
or ear:,y historic activities. The survey was conducted by
my walking linear transects along alternate rows within the
orchard. Ground visibility was very goad. No mat-orials or
features indicative of prehistoric or early historic
activities were observed during my inspection of the propc:ty
and it is recommended that archaeological clearance be
granted for the proposed project t
