The shear wall in the garage is provided in accordance with the conventional framing requirements of the UBC which do not explicitly require a drag truss or shear transfer through the roof framing. 3. The shear transfer through the soffit as depicted in detail D/A3.1 is an acceptable means of transferring lateral force through the soffit to eh restraining wall below. Based on the calculations provided by our'office in response to specific plan check items, it is our understanding that the house in in general conformance to the prescriptive requirements of the UBC for conventional framing with the exception of the garage portal condition addressed by our calculations.
