Holding Tank Model LF Low Flow Residential Pendent and Recessed Pendent Glass BulbAutomatic Sprinklers Manufactured by: Central Sprinkler Company 451 North Cannon Avenue, Lansdale, Pennsylvania 19446 Product Description The Central Model LF Residential Pendent and Recessed Pendent Sprinklers have the ability to cover large areas with very low flow and pressure requirements. This, combined with the aesthetics of the recessed glass bulb design, provide a sprinkler that is attractive and cost effective. The Model LF is Listed for both 1550 and 1750. The 1750 Listing can accommodate ambient temperatures up to 150°F. This is an advantage in areas where high ambient temperature is expected. The Model LF is Listed for up to 8" below the ceiling which can provide a significant advantage when encountering ceiling obstructions. Please note the flow changes slightly for installations over 4" up to 8" below the ceiling and for the 1750 temperature. The centra Model LF Automatic Sprinklers incorporate the latest in glass bulb technology, which results in a much smaller more attractive sprinkler. The operating mechanism consists of a liquid -filled quick response frangible capsule that is only 2.0 cm in length. The Model LF Automatic Sprinklers are intended for residential applications in accordance with current NFPA 13, NFPA 13D and NFPA. 13R Standards and Central's Residential Installation Guide. Operation: The glass bulb capsule operating mechanism contains a heat - sensitive liquid that expands upon application of heat. Upon reaching the rated temperature, the frangible capsule ruptures thereby releasing the orifice seal. The sprinkler then discharges water in a pre -designed spray pattern to control or extinguish the fire. Use only a non -hardening Instal late on pipe joint compound or Teflon' tape Apply only to male threads. ri * Teflon is a trademark of the DuPont Corp. All Central Model LF Automatic Sprinklers must be installed according to current NFPA 13, NFPA 13D and NFPA 13R requirements and Central's Residential Installation Guide. Deviations from these requirements and standards or any alteration to the sprinkler itself will void any warranty made by Central Sprinkler Company. In addition, installation must also meet local government provisions, codes, and standards as applicable. The system piping must be properly sized to ensure the minimum required flow rate at the sprinkler. Check for the proper model, style, orifice size, and temperature rating prior to installation. Install sprinklers after the piping is in place to avoid mechanical damage; replace any damaged units. Wet pipe systems must be protected from freezing. Upon completion of the installation, the system must be tested per recognized standards. In the event of a thread leak, remove the unit, apply new pipe joint compound or tape, and reinstall. Installation Sequence Step 1. The unit must be installed in the Pendent position. Step 3. Install the sprinkler according to the dimensions shown in the installation diagrams on page two. Install the escutcheon skirt onto the sprinkler prior to its engagement into the reducing fitting. For recessed applications, do not use the push -on escutcheon plate to hold the unit in position. The sprinkler will only function properly when anchored to the building structure. Step 4. Hand tighten the sprinkler into the fitting. Then use a Central GB -20 Wrench to tighten the unit into the fitting. A leak -tight joint requires only 7 to 14 ft.-Ibs. of torque; a tangential force of 14 to 28 lbs. delivered through a 6" handle will deliver adequate torque. Torque levels over 21 ft.-Ibs. may distort the orifice seal, resulting in leakage. GB -20 Sprinkler Wrench (Part #1125) 3 Caution: Special care must be taken when installing sprinklers with a CPVC system. Sprinklers must be installed after the manufacturer's recommended setting.time for the primer and cement to ensure that neither accumulate within the sprinkler. Special care must be taken when installing with a copper system. Sprinklers must be installed only after the inside of the sprinkler drop and associated fittings have been wire brushed to remove any flux. Furthermore, the local Authority Having Jurisdiction may have additional regulations and requirements for maintenance, testing, and inspection that must be obeyed. It is recommended that sprinkler systems be inspected regularly by a qualified inspection service. Length of time between such inspections can vary due to accessibility, ambient atmosphere, water supply, and- site activity. Do not attempt to reassemble or otherwise reuse a sprinkler that has operated. Replace any sprinkler exhibiting corrosion or damage; always use new sprinklers of the same type and temperature rating as replacements. Because the discharge pattern is critical to protection of life and property, nothing should be hung or attached to the sprinkler unit that would disrupt the pattern. Such obstructions must be removed. In the event that construction has altered the original configuration, additional sprinklers may need to be installed to maintain the protection level. Do not attempt to replace sprinklers without first removing the fire protection system from service. Be certain to secure permission from all Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and notify all personnel who may be affected during system shutdown. A fire watch during maintenance periods is a recommended precaution. ©1996 Central Sprinkler Company Printed in U.S.A. To remove the system from service mode, first refer to the system operating guide and valve instruction. Drain water and relieve pressure in the pipes. Remove the existing unit and install the replacement, using only the special sprinkler wrench. Be certain to match model, style, orifice, and temperature rating. A fire protection system that has been shut off after an activation should be returned to service immediately. Inspect the entire system for damage and replace or repair as necessary. Sprinklers that did not operate but were subjected to corrosive elements of combustion or excessive temperatures should be inspected, and replaced if need be. The Authority Having Jurisdiction will detail minimum replacement requirements and regulations. Guarantee: Central Sprinkler Company will repair and/or replace any products found to be defective in material or workmanship within a period of one year from the date of shipment. THE EXTERIOR BOUNDARIES OF THE ANNEXED PARCEL MAP REFLECT THOSE SHOWN ON THE PARCEL MAP FILED APRIL 16, 1974 IN BOOK 49 OF PARCEL MAPS AT PAGE 64 (R-1) AND COINCIDE WITH THE DESCRIBED BOUNDARY IN A DEED RECORDED NOVEMBER 18, 1953 IN BOOK 695 O.R. AT PAGE 276 (D -I). MOST OF THE MONUMENTATION THAT WAS FOUND OR SET IN 1974 IS STILL EXISTING, AS SHOWN ON THIS MAP, AND IT FITS THE DESCRIBED BOUNDARY EXTREMELY WELL CONSIDERING THE LAPSE OF TIME. SUBSEQUENTLY A -RECORD OF SURVEY WAS FILED SEPTEMBER 7, 1976 IN BOOK 56 OF MAPS AT PAGES 61 AND 62 (R-2) WHICH NOTED .THAT "A LARGE VARIETY OF CONFLICTING EVIDENCE EXISTED" AND A COMPLETE RESURVEY OF THE FIRST AND SECOND SUBDIVISIONS OF THE BAY TRACT WAS MADE. THAT SURVEY ESTASLF-RHED MONUMEXTAT10N ALONG BELL ROAD WHICH DID NOT HONOR THE EXISTING MONUTAENTATION ON PARCEL MAP BOOK 49 AT PAGE 56. THE NOTES ON R-2 STATE THAT THE SURVEY WAS DONE IN JANUARY THROUGH MAY 1974. A DETAIL ON R-2 SHOWS TIES TO PIPES AT THE INTERSECTION OF BELL ROAD AND JONES AVENUE WHICH COINCIDE WITH CALCULATED POSITIONS MADE FROM FIELD TIES TO EXISTING MONUMENTATION DURING THIS SURVEY. OF NOTE IS THE DISTANCE ALONG THE SOUTHEASTERLY LINES OF LOT 2 OF THE SECOND SUBDIVISION OF THE BAY TRACT AND OF LOTS 11 AND 12 OF THE FIRST SUBDIVISION OF THE BAY TRACT SHOWN AS AN AGGREGATE TOTAL OF 1982.00 FEET ( REDUCED TO GROUND DISTANCES) ON R-2 VERSES 1980 FEET ON THE ORIGINAL BAY TRACT MAPS. THIS OVERAGE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE JUSTIFIED IN THAT OTHER MONUMENTATION ALONG JONES AVENUE AND ON THE LINE BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND SUBDIVISION OF THE BAY TRACT WERE SHOWN BUT NOT ACCEPTED BY R-2. SUBSEQUENT SURVEYS, INCLUDING BOOK 75 OF PARCEL MAPS AT PAGE 72, FILED JANUARY 29, 1982 (R-3), BOOK 103 OF PARCEL MAPS AT PAGE 20, FILED APRIL 25, 1986 (R-4) AND BOOK 105 OF MAPS AT PAGES 67 AND 68 FILED FEBRUARY 4, 1987 (R-5) MERELY REFLECT BEARINGS AND DISTANCES AS SHOWN ON R-2 AND ESTABLISHED MONUMENTATION ALONG JONES AVENUE WITHOUT FURTHER RESOLUTION OR JUSTIFICATION. OF NOTE, MONUMENTATION SHOWN ON DETAIL "A" ON R-3 IS SHOWN IN REVERSE OF THAT FOUND DURING THIS SURVEY WHICH WOULD RESULT IN A GAP RATHER THAN AN OVERLAP, ALSO OF NOTE, THE DISTANCES ALONG JONES AVENUE AS SHOWN ON R-2 (88.89+660.66+660.66) 1410.21 FEET MORE NEARLY REFLECT THE DISTANCE SHOWN ON THE SECOND SUBDIVISION OF THE BAY TRACT, 1408.8 FEET, THAN THE AGGREGATE TOTALS DESCRIBED IN D-1, D-2 AND 0-3 ( 549.71'+ 392.63'+ 462.001 1404.34 FEET, WDICATING A DISCREPANCY IN THE LOCATION OF THE NORTH LINE OF BELL ROAD A3 DESCRIBED IN DEEDS AND SHOWN ON R-1. SINCE THERE IS NO APPARENT ENCROACHMENT ALONG THE NORTHWESTERLY LINE OF THE ANNEXED MAP THIS RESOLUTION ACCEPTS THE BOUNDARIES, AS SHOWN ON R -I AND FOUND, TO REFLECT THE INTENT OF THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PARCEL CONVEYED BY D-1 AND ALLOCATES ANY OVERAGE TO BELL ROAD USING THE EXISTING MONUMENTED CENTERLINE. . . .... ........... .... c c I 0 ALL STRUCTURE13 AND EQUIPMENT INCLUDING OVEPHANGS SHALL BE CLEAR OF ALL EASEMENTS.
