Dear Mr. Johnson:
The above cited parcel, which Butte County records indicate
belongs to you, has been used as an illegal dumping site for
garbage and other solid waste.
Chapter 31, Article VI of the Butte County Code requires that
solid waste "shall not be allowed to remain on the premises for
more than seven (7) days." Violation of this code is a
misdemeanor, punishable by fines of up to five hundred (500)
dollars, with each day constituting a separate offense. In
addition, illegal dumps are placed on the State list of Illegal
Dump Sites.
Let me stress that it is not the primary intent of this
Department to levy fines for illegal dumping, but to have these
sites cleaned up so that they do not pose a threat to public
health and safety or the environment.
Please contact this office within fourteen (14) days of receipt
of this notice with a plan for cleaning the site and keeping it
free of solid waste in the future.
We are attempting to have all illegal dumps within Butte County
cleaned up within the next six months. Your cooperation will be
greatly appreciated.
