Under authority of PRC 4290, the following checked items are required
by the Butte County Fire Department and are made a part of this permit.
Th ' ese requirements are minimums and will be superseded by Butte County
local regulations which equal or exceed these standards. Field
inspections will be made by the Butte County Building- Department for
compliance.
1272.0 O.Maintenance of Defensible Space. To ensure continued
maintenance of properties in conformance with these
standards and measures and to assure continued avail-
ability, access and utilization of the defensible space
provided for in these standards, annual maintenance
must be provide for by the land owner.
Driveway Standards
1273.02 Surface. All driveway surfaces and structures (bridges
1273.07 culverts and other appartenant structures which supple-
m.ent the roadway bed cr shoulders) shall provide unob-
structed access to conventional drive vehicles, includ-
ing sedans and fire apparatus weighing up to 40,000
pounds.
1273.03 Grade. Not to exceed 16 percent unless paved.
1273.04 Driveway Radius
1. No roadway shall have a horizontal inside radius of
curvature of less than 50 feet and additional sur
face width of 4 feet shall be added to curves of 50-
100 feet radius; 2 feet to those from 100-200 feet.
2. The length of Vertical curves in roadways exclusive
of gutters, ditches and drainage structures designed
to hold or divert water shall be not less than 100
feet.
1273.05 Turnarounds. If required, will have a minimum turning
radius of 40 feet from the center of the road.
1273.05 Turnouts. Shall he a minimum 'of 10 feet wide and 30
feet long with a minimum 25 foot taper . on each end.
1270.10 Width. All driveways shall provide a minimum 10 foot
traffic lane and unobstructed vertical clearance of 15
feet along its entire length.

1273.10 Turnouts. Driveways exceeding 150 feet in length, but
less than 800 feet in length, shall provide a turnout
near the midpoint of the driveway. Where a driveway
exceeds 800 feet, turnouts shall be provided no more
than 400 feet apart.
1273.10 Turnaround. A turnaround shall be provided at all
building sites on driveways over 300 feet in length and
shall be within So feet- of the building.
1273.11 Gates
Gate entrances shall be at least two feet wider than
the roadway it serves.
2-. The gates must be located at least 30 feet from the
roadway and shall open to allow a vehicle to stop
without obstructing traffic on that roadway.
3. Where a one-way road with a single traffic lane
provides entrance, a 50 foot turning radius shall be
used.
Fuel Modification
1276.01 Setback for Structure Defensible Space.
1. All parvels 1 acre aiid larger shall provide a mini-
mum 30 -foot setback for buildings and acce - ssory
buildings from 411 property lines and/or the center
of the road.
2. For parcels les ' s than 1 acre, local jurisdiction
shall provide for the.samepractical effect. See
Other Requirements below.
1276.02 Di ' sposal of Vegetation and Fuels. Disposal, including
chipping, burying, burning or removal to a landfill site
approved by the local jurisdiction, of flammable
vegetation and fuels caused by site development and
construction, road and driveway construction and fuel
modification shall ba completed prior to completion of
road construction �r f.4--ial inspection of a building
permit.

For your protection you should be aware that as "owner-buildee, you are the responsible party of record on such a
permit Building permits are not required to be signed by property owners unless they are personally performing their own
work. If your work is being performed by someone other dian yourself, you may protect yourself from possible liability if
that person applies for the proper permit in his or her name.
Contractors are required by law to be licensed and bonded by the State of California and to have a business license
ftm the city or county. They are also required by law to put their license number on all permits for which they apply.

.(B) TANK INSULATION. Storage type water heaters and storage and
backup tankd for solar systems shall be externally wrapped with

19851 Inspection of records; duplication of plans
a. The official copy -of the plans maintained by the building department of the city or county provided under Section 19850
shall be open for inspection only on the premises of the building department as a public record. The copy may not be
duplicated in whole or in part except (1) with the written permission, which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld
as specified in subdivision (f), of the certified, licensed or registered professional or his or her successor, if any, who signed
the original documents and the written permission of the original or current owner of the building, or, if the building is part
of a'common interest development, with the written permission of the board of directors or governing body of the
association established to manage the common interest development, or (2) by order of a proper court.
b. Any building department of a city or county, which is requested to duplicate the official copy of the plans maintained by
the building department, shall request written permission to do so from the c6-tified, licensed, or registered professional,
or his or her successor, if any, who signed the original documents and from (1) the original or current owner of the building
or (2), directors or other governing body of the association established to manage the common interest development
C. —The building department shall also furnish the form of an affidavit to be completed and signed by the person requesting
to duplicate the official copy of the plans, which contains provisions stating all of the following:
I . I That the copy of the plans shall only be used for the maintenance, operation, and use of the building.
2. That drawings are instruments of professional service and are incomplete without the interpretation of the
ord.

3. That subdivision (a) of Section 5536.25 of the Business and Professions Code states that a licensed architect who
sips plans, specifications, reports, or documents shall not be responsible for damage caused by subsequent
changes to, or use of, those plans, specifications, reports, or documents where local governmental agencies, are
not authorized or approved by the licensed architect who originally signed the plans, specifications, reports, or
documents, provided that the architectural service rendered by the architect who signed the plans, specifications,
reports, or documents was not also approximate cause of the damage.
CL The request by the building department to a licensed, registered, or certified professional may be made by the building
department sending a registered letter to the licensed, registered, or certified professional requesting his or her permission
to duplicate the official copy of the plans and sending with the registered letter, a copy of the affidavit furnished by the
building department which has been completed and signed by the person requesting to duplicate the official copy of the
plans. The registered letters shall be sent by the building department to the most recent address of the licensed, registered,
or certified professional available from the California State Board of Architectural Examiners.
e. The governing body of the city or county may establish a fee to be paid by any person who requests the building department
of the city or county to duplicate the official copy of any plans pursuant to this section, in an amount which it determines
is reasonably necessary to cover the costs of the building department pursuant to this section.
f. The certified, licensed, or registered professional's refusal to permit the duplication of the plans is unreasonable if, upon
request from the building department, the professional does either of the following:
I Fails to respond to the local building department within 30 days of receipt by the professional of the request.
However, if the building department detennines that professional is unavailable to respond within 30 days of
receipt of the request due to serious illness, travel, or other extenuating circumstances, the time period shall be
extended by the building department to allow the professional adequate time to respond, as determined to be
appropriate to the individual circumstance, but not to exceed 60 days.
2. Refuses to give his or her permission for the duplication of the plans after receiving the signed affidavit and
registered letter specified in subdivisions (c) and (d).
19852 Fees; limitations
The governing body of a county or city, including a charter city, may prescribe such fees as will pay the expenses incurred by the
building'department of such city or county in maintaining the official copy of the plans of buildings for which it has issued a building
pennit but the fees shall not exceed the amount reasonably required by the building department in maintaining the official copy of
the plans of the buildings for which it has issued a building permit. The fees shall be imposed pursuant to Section 66016 of the
Government Code.
19853 Exclusion of banks, financial institutions or public utilities
This chapter shall not apply to any building containing a bank, other financial institution, or public utility.
