The proposed project is to divide tha property into _four parcels, Prion to conducting a field survey .of the property l:_ consulted the archaeological site record files maintained At California State University., Chico to determine if any, previously recorded archaeological sites Were located within, or adjacent to, the property boundaries. No such sites had been previcasly located in the vicinity of the project area. Logging operations are known to have begun in this area prior to 1860. The Stratton Mill is located approximately 2 miles to the north: of the project area and the IVilas Mill was located just to the south of the project boundary.
