In addition, your plans are routed to other regulatory entities including but not limited to Planning, Public Works, Environmental Health, and the California Department of Forestry for their clearances and approvals. There are some things you can do to expedite your permit: 0 Make sure your application is complete. 0 Be responsive to requests from County departments for any additional materials or requirements. The Building Division places its highest priority on processing building permits as quickly as possible and each day that passes without a complete application adds to processing time. Every permit issued by the Building Official shall expire and become null and void if the work authorized by such permit is not started or completed within one year from the date of issuance of such permit. A permit may be renewed (for a fee) prior to expiration an indefinite number of times, provided construction progress has been documented by the Building Division during each year during scheduled inspections. No changes may be made in the original plans and specifications for such work. In order to reinstate action on a permit after expiration, the permittee shall pay a new full permit fee and additional plan checking and documentation may be required. Upon completion of work covered by this permit, please contact this office for final inspection. As a reminder to you, it is illegal to occupy this building or any portion of the building for which this permit is issued without a final inspection. EXPIRATION OF PERMIT APPLICATION AND REFUND POLICY Application for which a permit has not been issued will expire one year after date of application. Refunds may only be made upon written request by the person who originally paid the fees. Refunds for permit applications (not yet issued) must be requested within two years from the date of fee payment. Fees paid at the time of application are for Plan Check and administration. The Plan Check portion of fees is refundable only if the permit is cancelled or withdrawn before any plan checking is done. Building Division costs will be deducted prior to authorizing a refund and a charge of $54.99 to process the refund application will be assessed. Defiant Parlor Stove and VigilantTM Parlor Stove PERFORMANCE OF PRODUCT FOR WHICH EVALUATION IS REQUESTED As a fireplace stove having a free-standing fire chamber USES As a wood -burning fireplace stove DESCRIPTION The Defiant Parlor Stove and Vigilant Parlor Stove are free-standing fire- place stoves made of cast iron, having a minimum thickness of at least 0.0!25". Both stoves employ "horizontal combustion" in which the flames move horizontally from the primary combustion area as opposed to "updraft combustion". The stoves have primary air ports to furnish air to the primary combustion chamber and secondary air ports which preheat and distribute combustion air to a secondary combustion chamber. The primary air ports are provided with a thermostat for air control and the secondary air ports have a thermostat control for the Vigilant and manual control for the Defiant. The flue collar size on both models is eight (8) inches. The Defiant Parlor Stove is 32". in height, 36" in length and 22" in depth. This stove weighs 340 pounds and has a maximum heat output of 55,000 BTU per hour. The flue exit is available on the top or rear face. The Vigilant Parlor Stove is 30" in height, 29" in length and 23" in depth. This stove weighs 24.5 pounds with a maximum heat output of 47,000 BTU per hour. Building and Mechanical Codes or Supplements thereto. The Committee recommends that Defiant Parlor Stove and Vigilant Parlor Stove be accepted by the building official or other authority having jurisdiction-pro- vided urisdiction provided the conditions set forth in this report and in the Standard Codes are ob- served and the product is installed in compliance with the requirements herein and in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. LIMITATIONS 1. The manufacturer's published installation instructions shall be strictly adhered to. 2. The chimney connector and chimney shall be the same size or larger than the flue collar size of the fireplace stove. 3. A hearth and hearth extension of at least 3/8" asbestos millboard shall be installed directly beneath the fireplace stove and extend 16" in front of and .`_:" beyond each side of the fireplace stove opening. 4. The fireplace stove shall be connected to a chimney suitable for use with low -heat appliances. 5. The fireplace stove chimney shall not be used by any appliances that burn fuels other than solid fuel (i.e.: wood, coal, etc.) or to an incinerator 4 4 6. The fireplace stoves shall be placed at least thirty (30) inches from walls unless the heat shield is installed, then the fireplace stove may be installed twelve (12) inches from the back walls and thirty (30) inches from side walls. 7. A copy of Lhe operation manual shall be furnished with each fireplace stove. IDENTIFICATION All Defiant Parlor Stoves and Vigilant Parloe Stoves manufactured under this report shall bear the manufacturer's name and/or trademark, the Southern Building Code Congress International Seal and the number of this report. The Southern Building Code Congress International Seal and this report number may be placed in the operation manual instead of on the stove. PERIOD OF ISSUANCE This report.is granted for a period of one (1) year, expiring 10-1 -79• An extension may be granted only after a re-evaluation of documentation to insure that no change in design and/or manufacture has occurred during the interim period.
