Dear Mr. Smith
This department received a complaint alleging health and safety hazards at the above referenced
living unit. On March 22, 1999 this department conducted an inspection. The owner (Robert and
Helga Burdett) and tenants are not currently occupying the structure. The structure at this site has
numerous electrical hazards including but not limited to open conductors and conductor splices,
unprotected conductors, and a lack of proper grounding and bonding. The Building has been
posted by this Department "Unsafe for Human Habitation".
As the Chief Building Inspector for Butte County, I am requesting that the electrical and gas to
the structure referenced above be disconnected until appropriate actions are taken to resolve the
hazards. Further, I request that the electrical and gas service not be reconnected until an
authorization from this Department is granted to do so. This letter shall also serve as notice to the
property owner and tenants that the electrical and gas service is to be disconnected on or about
Monday, August 2, 1999.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Burdett:
This department has received a complaint alleging health and/or safety hazards at the above -
referenced property. Butte County Assessor's records indicate that you own or control the property.
On July 29, 1999, an inspection was made regarding the complaint and the following conditions
were observed which are in violation of the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3 (a)
6,7,9,14,15; (b) 3; (c); (d); (e); (g) 2; (n); which pose health and safety hazards to the occupants and
render the dwelling substandard.
1 _ Remove all .garbage, rubbish and refine from your property and maintain a regular removal
schedule in accordance with Butte County Code, Chapter 31, Section 31-50.
2. Submit plans of the proposed means of sewage system repair and or disposal to the health
officer and obtain a permit from the health officer.
