Occupant loads of 50 or more shall be based on the occupant load served, but not less than 44". (UBC 11006.2) b) Stairway landings shall have a dimension in the direction of travel equal to the width of the stairs. Such dimension need not exceed 44" when the stairs have a straight run. (UBC 11006.7) c) Exterior stairways on Type V Construction buildings may be constructed of wood not less than 2" nominal thickness. (UBC 1606.4.3) d) All stairs require a minimum 6'-8" headroom. LANDINGS: Landings at doors shall be the width of the door or stairs, which ever is greater. Landings at doors in a Group R-3, U and within R-1 Occupancies may be 36" minimum in the direction of travel, all others must be 44" minimum.
