Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hiltibrindle:
This is a courtesy notice to notify you that you are in violation of the Butte County Code, as follows, at
the above -referenced location.
Pursuant to Chapter 24, Section 24-64, "All uses of land within a zoned distri ct not specially authorized
or permitted by the regulations are prohibited". The "U" (Unclassified) zone, (Section 24-195), does not
"specifically authorize" large accumulations of junk. The storing of more than 100 square feet of "junk"
on a parcel is one ofthe items used to determine that a "junkyard" condition exists. A "junkyard" -is not
an allowed use in a "U" zone. "Automobiles and other vehicles, dismantled, in whole or in part".are
considered to be "junk". Chapter 11, Section 11 -4 forbids people, whether at a licensed junkyard
location or not, from storing junk in public view.
Butte County Code Section 31-8 - The owner or tenant of any premises, business establishment or
industry shall be responsible for the satisfactory removal of solid wastes accumulated by him on his
property or his premises. Garbage shall not be allowed to remain on the premises for more than seven.
(7) days, to prevent propagation or attraction of flies, rodents or other ' vectors, and the creation of
nuisances. Where garbage and rubbish are containerized together, the period of removal shall be that
applied to garbage.
GARBAGE: Shall include all kitchen and.table food waste, and animal or vegetable waste that
attends or results from the storage, preparation, cooking or handling of foodstuffs and
shall include bottles, tin cans, and other containers and papers contaminated with
garbage.
RUBBISH: Includes nonputrescible solid wastes such as ashes, paper, cardboard, tin cans, yard
clippings, wood, glass, bedding, crockery, plastics, rubber by-products and litter.
REFUSE: Includes garbage and rubbish.
In order to comply with the Butte County Code, you are hereby requested to:
1. Remove all garbage, rubbish and refuse from your property and maintain a regular removal
schedule in accordance with Butte County Code, Section 31-8.

referenced address and that you remove all inoperativeAunk vehicles from your property.
The Department of Public Works advises that the public right-of-way is located 40 feet from the center
line of either side of Skyway Street. Vehicles that are parked within this area are required to have
license plates and current registration property displayed. The ' public right-of-way, whether or not the
entire area is actually used for highway purposes, is not to be encroached upon. The term

It is the County's goal to obtain voluntary compliance with the Butte County Code. However, you
should be advised that Butte County has an active Code Enforcement Program which provides an
effective means of enforcement if voluntary compliance is not obtained. Enforcement may be pursued
through the issuance of citations, fines and the recording of a Notice of Violation including a description
of the. action necessary to abate the violation.
You have thirty (30) days to voluntarily comply with the above directions or to present an acceptable
plan for abatement or corrective actions to be taken by you. Should you have any questions concerning

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hiltibrindle:
This is a formal warning notice. Pursuant to Butte County Code (BCC) Section 41-2, we sent you a
courtesy notice dated July 2, 1993 notifying you that you are in violation of the Butte County Code at the
above -referenced location. As of this date, the following violation still exists.
Pursuant to Chapter 24, Section 24-64, "All uses of land within a zoned district not specially authorized

failing to comply with this warning letter.
Upon conviction of said violation(s) or of failing to comply with this letter, the court shall impose
penalties (fines) and a Notice of Violation shall be recorded in accordance with Butte County Code
Section 41-7. The Notice of Violation shall include a description of the premises the violation concerns,
a description of the violation, the date of your convictions, and the action necessary to correct or abate
the violation(s).

Dear Mr. -Behar:
This department received several complaints alleging health and safety hazards
in the above listed dwelling. The Butte County Assessor's records indicate you
are the owner of the property.
On April 8, 1986, 1 visited the property with Mr. Craig . Erickson and made an
inspection of the home and the surrounding property. The following conditions
were noted which are in violation of the Butte County Code, Chapter 19; the
California Administrative Code, Title 25, Chapter 19 Subchapter 1, Section 30,
32, 34, 36 and 38, and the California Health and Safety Code, Section 17920.3

Note that I have had at least 5 complaints in the last year regarding this home
and property and have visited tlie property at least 12 times during the last year.
There is a cafnper shell on the si te whiech lacks approved electrical wiring,
electrical disconnects, proper sewage disposal connections, or penuits for
installation.
The dwelling lacks safe heating facilities. Heat was provided by an improperly
installed wood stove, with unsafe flue, no approved hearth and location too
close to combustibles.
There are no garbage receptacles. There is a large accumulation of trash and
garbage around the house and yard.
The entire property and home is in poor -condition, t and shows a general la,6k of
maintenance.

Porch railings are not safe.
Electrical wiring has been unsafe, with open splices, exposed wiring. These
conditions had existed throughout the house. Wiring to camper is'unsafe, and
unapproved. Currently house is being rewired without permit.
There are no plumbing or sanitary facilities on the property.
7nere are no interior -walls on insulation.
Mere is no source of heat in the home.
The camper shell and plastic "tents" which are being used as a dorelling is
certainly not suitable for a family of four and lacks any of -the amenities
normally associated with a home.
The building is not weatherproof.
,hese conditions shall be corrected as follows, and within IIII:.,,TY (30) DAYS from
receipt of this notice. Obtain all required permits from the Butte County Depart-
ment of Public Works, 747 Elliott, Paradise, prior to making repairs.
Remove illegal camper from the property. Zoning allaws*only one dwelling unit
per parcel.
Provide an approved heating facility with venting, flue, separation from com-
bustibles and proper installation and capable of maintaining a minimum tempera-
ture of 70 degrees F,-direnheit as measured at a point three (3') feet above the
floor in all habitable rooms.
Provide covered fly -tight leakproof garbage receptacles. Remove all trash and
garbage from the premises at least every SEVI-N (7) DAYS. Remove the accumulated
trash and garbage from the yard and house within SIEVEN (7) DAYS and properly
dispose of the same at an approved disposal site.
Remove all cat and dog feces frcm, the yard, clean the dwelling and remove all
other garbage, trash and debri in and around the premises. Make building rodent
proof.
Repai
r holes in walls and ceiling, and provide paint and general repairs as
needed.and approved floors, walls, ceiling and roof.
Clean up electrical wiring. Eliminate exposed wiring, open splices, inoperative.
